It's not a documentary - it's a fictional whitewash. While you're busy checking facts, ask his victim what the cash award she received was and what the conditions were.
Please stop rewritting history.
He should be sentenced and serve whatever time the court determines. It is very sad that LA Times is providing cover for a pedophile and a rapist.
Well, only if you're naive enough to believe that a documentary filmed to support the notion that Polanski doesn't deserve punishment is somehow unbiased and truthful.
Polanski testified under oath that he had sex with the girl and that he knew the girl was 13 on the day he had sex with her. He also promised to appear for his sentencing.
He's a child molester, and society would be wrong to forget about it or think that thirty years of living in the lap of luxury in France is somehow suitable punishment for his crimes. (His sexual affair with a fifteen year old as soon as he returned to France is yet further indication that he's a confirmed pedophile.) One can only wonder at those who think that his history as a famous and tragic artiste somehow gets him a "get of out jail free" card.
If you are an adult and have sex with a 13 year old, it's a crime. Doesn't matter if the 13 year old agrees to the sex. Doesn't matter if you don't know the law. Doesn't matter if the mother gave you the daughter. Doesn't matter if have powerful friends. Doesn't matter if our celebrity culture wants to forgive any action by a celebrity. You are a criminal. Roman Polanski is a criminal. He should be in jail for at least 30 years. That'll teach him to rape little girls and to flee from justice.
In times past, societies would sometimes exile transgressors instead of executing them. As far as I'm concerned, Polanski went into self-imposed exile, which is fine with me, as long as he stays out of the U.S. for the rest of his natural life. Why should we now pay to retrieve this scumbag, try him and warehouse him at public expense? It makes no sense economically or legally.
I will remember for the rest of my life, that the artistic community would defend a child rapist just to protect their own.
I have lost any and all respect I ever had for the artistic community.
Just imagine if this was Glenn Beck or **** Cheney who commited child rape and went on the lam and ask yourself if the LA Times (who still call Polanski 'accused' when he plead guilty!) and the art community would respond in the same way.

What "trial" are you talking about?
What "trial" are you talking about?
"Should he be put in jail?"
Yes. That's where you put men who plead guilty to drugging and raping children.
