OK, so "Whip It," Drew Barrymore's new action-packed female-empowerment film, starring Ellen Page, is full of hot, tough tattooed roller-derby
chicks wearing fishnet stockings beating the bejesus out of one another.
But there's also a dreamy new male screen presence with the
unlikely name of Landon Pigg.
In the film, Ellen's character, Bliss, falls head over
heels (and into a swimming pool) for this real-life Indie rocker, who also performs a song he wrote for the film.
I talked with Landon this afternoon and asked about his underwater love scene with Ellen (he confesses to growing gills for it), about who does his Rod Stewart-esque do and about what Drew is really like to work
with.
Check out his blog. I predict you're gonna like this guy's music. Watch/listen to"I Can't Let Go" on YouTube. Oh, and here's "Coffee Shop," a song he's well known for. He's on tour, so maybe he's coming to your town!
Drew likes him a lot, and you know she's a good judge of
Indie rockers.
You've probably heard his music on TV shows such as "One Tree
Hill," "Grey's Anatomy" and "State of Mind."
"Whip It" opens Friday! Find your skates before seeing the movie. You'll want to wear them when it's over.
And in case you -- like Landon -- were wondering about the Small Faces and Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich, check out these videos.
This stuff just never gets old.
Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich do "Hold Tight."
