Maura Tierney's cancer treatment forces her to pull out of 'Parenthood'
Maura Tierney has had to pull out of her new series,
"Parenthood."
The actress recently broke the news that she was undergoing surgery to remove a breast tumor. The surgery caused the series' fall debut to be postponed until midseason.
The star's spokeswoman told the Hollywood Reporter that the former "ER" actress, 44, is "deeply disappointed" not to be participating in the NBC show, and that "Ms. Tierney and her doctors remain confident that the outcome of her treatments will be positive."
The series is based on the 1989 movie "Parenthood" starring Steve Martin and Mary Steenburgen.
Tierney was to have played a sister-in-law role, originally played by Dianne Wiest. The TV cast includes Peter Krause, Erika Christensen, Dax Shepard, Bonnie Bedelia and Craig T. Nelson.
In a network statement, NBC said, "While we are saddened that Maura Tierney won't be able to continue in her current role in 'Parenthood,' our main concern is for her quick and full recovery. Our thoughts and best wishes are with her."

I was diagnosed with breast cancer 5/21/09. Finished my 33rd radiation treatment on 9/17/09 and turned 45 on 9/18/09. You are just starting your journey but it's treatable and beatable!
