Mackenzie Phillips says she had sex for years with her father, John Phillips
In her spill-all autobiography, "High on Arrival," she details her memories of drugs, sex, rehabs, arrests, and divorce. But the topper is her confession of a longtime incestuous relationship with her father, John Phillips, which started – she thinks – in 1979.
She explains in her book that her father had "no boundaries." "He was full of love, and he was sick with drugs. I woke up that night from a blackout to find myself having sex with my own father.
By this time, she then became more than his consensual sexual partner, she was also in his band, touring as part of the New Mamas and the Papas.
"One night Dad said, 'We could just run away to a country where no one would look down on us. There are countries where this is an accepted practice. Maybe Fiji."
Will you buy Mackenzie's book? Should she have shared this secret outside of a therapist's office? Is she courageous or foolish to put this out there?
John Phillips, having had a liver transplant in 1992, joked to Howard Stern about drinking again a few months after the organ replacement surgery: "I was just trying to break in the new liver." He died in 2001 of a heart attack at age 65.

Disgusting. She needs to be telling this stuff to a therapist not making money off of it. Like anyone needed to hear or read about such garbage.

I am sooo glad that Mack went to a real rehab program that had her address all her issues. Of course she was using. Glad she could get to all this baggage and in handling it so well. My sister worked with her when they shot this season of Celebrity Drug Rehab and she talked about her own experience at rehab. She went to a long term narconon program...which was intense but it got her to a point where she could confront all of this and her family and really get clean and sober! Having used opiates for only 2 years myself, I applaud her for getting in treatment , really doing the program and now wanting to help others overcome their emotional issues and associated addictions. Glad you're taking it One Day at a Time Mack!

If by telling the world helps her over come her drug problem, its good to let it out.
Does she think what she and her father did was wrong or does she want to advocate for the acceptance of incest as a way of life?
I'm glad she disclosed her secret in a public way. Her story is like many other victims hanging on to that nightmare for years. Pediphiles enforce secrecy over their victims. It is empowering for the survivor to tell the truth and take their lives back!
Good for her getting rid of all the ickyness in her life.. but DAMNNNN!!! The public DID NOT NEED to know this discusting tidbit of info!!!! at least in my opinion anyways. In my opionion, only if its going to help someone else should it be put out there. But this doesn't seem like it's meant to. Just an excersizing of her demons. But... thats just me.
