On Jay Leno's new show, Kanye West blames VMA behavior on mom's death
Jay Leno asked Kanye West about his behavior at Sunday's VMAs, interrupting Taylor Swift's acceptance speech to say that Beyonce's video was the best video.
"It's been extremely difficult," West explained, talking about how he hurt someone and how he only wanted to help people. He said he knew immediately he was wrong when he handed the microphone back to Swift and she didn't continue talking.
The boos must have been a clue too.
Then he actually put the blame for the incident over his unexpressed grief over his mother's death. Or he sure seemed to.
Leno asked the infamous rapper what his mother would have thought about his behavior.
He took time to answer and looked like he was about to cry, during which time Leno even patted his knee to comfort him.
"So many celebrities, they never take the time off," he said. "I've never taken the time off to really -- you know, just music after music and tour after tour. I'm just ashamed that my hurt caused someone else's hurt."
What do you think about Kanye's excuse?
And was Leno told to provide him that opportunity by asking about his mom?
More Kanye Dish:
Taylor Swift USED to be a fan of Kanye West.

Leno suggested something about his mom not Kanye. Did you watch it? Or is the title just to get clicks on your article?
Kayne is full of B.S. He probably said the apology due to his publicist telling him to do so. Idiot!!!!
I watched and didn't hear anything about his blaming his Moms death on his behavior. Although, he rambled on and I really didn't understand anything he said. He was probably drunk again. What a punk.
i think his apology is not sincere. so many celebrities think that they are the hot topic, don't care what they say and who they hurt. then they turn around and say i'm sorry. it's not right and they need to think before they speak. its a common skill, they should learn to use it. usually in the end it winds up they hurt their career in some way and everybody loses. all people need to just knock it off. oh and yes he may be in grief over his mother, but it is immature to blame it on that. take responsibility for your actions kanye.
Complete IDIOT! He lives in a world that he thinks he is really that important that he can jump up on a stage at an organized event and take it over. Everyone in the industry should turn their backs on him, shut him out and cut him off, starting with Beyonce and Jayzee!
He's done it before, and he's done it again! So, is it a public stunt or truth- kanya?
Kanye West apology was sincere. he was not putting any excuses he says it himself. he knows what he did was wrong everyone does. he did not say anything wrong he just did it at the wrong time. his new girlfriend Amber Rose got him drinking all the time he was drunk. He wasnt drunk on the Jay Leno show. You have to understand he lost his mother and his wife left him. he was lonley and its true he never took time off to heal.STOP HATING ON KANYE WEST HE IS JUST HUMAN
he wasn't sincere , he wouldn't do it if his public relation manager did not encourage him to do so , he think he was goning to get a cheer when he went up on stage but got boo instead and now realized he is about to lose a huge crowd and lose a lot of money so he decided to do so , even puffy wouldn't do this when he was kanye's age , 50 cent should've won so he could punch kanye
I'm glad that this issue wrapped up in a nice little bow but I wonder the effects it'll have on Kanye's career?
Overall, I believe this issue will blow over. Meanwhile, RIDICULOUS situations like this should be addressed!
IF YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE MAD AT KANYE...

Not the first time. No one "gets" anyone drinking/using; no one can force liquor down anothers throat (except a la roman times) each and every individual makes a choice to drink or use. I work in the criminal justice system with high profile offenders each and every day - high stress, high risk and I have lost immediate family members, close friends, colleagues and others. I have had severe marital problems and raised children, some of which were very, very difficult. I have been extremely lonely. I have served my country for 20 years during hostile conflict - and through all of I prayed for time to heal; for what to do next; for the way to stop bad habits. I, too, am just human but am also responsible for all that I have done wrong. Period.
