Exclusive video: Larry David's surreal family reunion: 'Curb' meets 'Seinfeld'
At last night's "Curb Your Enthusiasm" premiere, star and creator Larry David told me how the "Seinfeld reunion" idea came about and if it was hard to convince anyone to do the reunion on "Curb" this season.
He said that, in truth, it wasn't very hard to get Elaine, Jerry, Kramer and George. They all agreed instantly.
"They were all sort of into it," he says. "I don't think they thought it was going to happen, to tell you the truth. They said yes initially, and then they got a call six months later about scheduling, and they said, 'What are you talking about?' They didn't remember."
He had the concept for Season 6. This year, he thought, "this is the time."
FYI: Jerry Seinfeld's in five episodes, Julia Louis-Dreyfus is in four and Jason Alexander and Michael Richards are in three. That's all we could get out of him.
What was it like to have his "Curb" family meeting his other TV family?
Larry explains: "It was an interesting hybrid of the two shows, really, because we had scenes together, so it works on a couple of different levels."
How does he keep his real life straight?
"My real life is easy to keep straight because it's so boring."
