VIDEO: Jamie Lee Curtis' sick son was 'saved' by Starlight Foundation
Jamie Lee Curtis talked to The Dish Rag at the Variety Power of Women awards luncheon Thursday afternoon at the Beverly Wilshire.
She is a huge supporter of the children's charity Starlight Foundation, which works to help terminally and seriously ill children endure long treatments and hospital stays.
Her son, Tom, ruptured his spleen a few years ago and ended up in the ICU in a children's hospital in Los Angeles
"Because of Starlight Starbright, a mobile Nintendo unit was wheeled next to his bed and he was promised that if he had one more IV needle ... that he would be able to play Nintendo."
He was just 5 years old, she says, but with that to help him face the pain and fear, "It changed our experience in the hospital 100%."
That mobile Nintendo unit was placed there for him by Starlight.
She called the organization the next morning and has been involved ever since.
What an admirable lady and what a cool organization!
Is there such a thing as a Starlight for adults?
