Ellen DeGeneres is officially replacing Paula Abdul as the fourth judge on "American Idol."
And what does she really know about singing?
In the taping for today's "Ellen DeGeneres Show," she said that it's been hard to keep it a secret. She's a big "Idol" fan and claims, "I have not missed one episode."

She's definitely got as big a heart as Paula. But is she tough enough to do battle with Simon?
I'm Tivoing this season just to see how Ellen handles her new judging responsibilities.

Guess "Idol" has run it's course. Since Abdul is being replaced by Degeneres, I will no longer be a viewer.
Ellen isn't a bad choice, but the danger of picking someone as famous as her is easy to spot--she instantly becomes the center of attention because she has built up her own rather strong fan base by doing her daytime show.
I think she's going to be great. As for those who criticize that she doesn't know anything about music.... think about this for a minute. You have Randy who basically has a rotation of three canned responses (none of them helpful and all of them containing the word "dawg") and Kara who just repeats "you made it your own," where it often doesn't even apply. You're worried about Ellen not coming up with any interesting or helpful comments? For real? She's replacing someone who couldn't string together a coherent sentence to save her life. That's not my idea of "downhill."

I won't be watching American Idol and I have been watching since it started..Without Paula, it just isn't going to be the same! Ellen DeGeneres, no way!
I have been watching American Idol since the very first season. However, I despise Ellen DeGeneneres (sp) and WILL NO LONGER WATCH THE SHOW! I feel as others have posted on this blog that Ellen is against and lacks all moral and human etiquette. Furthermore, please advise me what that woman/man knows about music. She definitely cannot dance and would NOT know which contestant is singing in tune or out of tune. She really should not attempt to dance on her OWN show. I don't know what that weird gyration that she does on her show and has the audacity to describe "it" as dancing. She is repulsive in every way that one can think of regarding morality! With her as a judge, American Idol is NO LONGER a "family show."
I will not watch American Idol after them choosing Ellen! She has never been in the music industry so how can she critic those who are? I do not endorse Fox or American Idol because they brought on a Lesbian!!!
Why would she be cast on American Idol. It makes no sense. What it sounds like is agenda driven.
I bet those of you who say you wont watch anymore WILL end up watching to see if its' a train wreck or not... you wont be able to help yourselves!
