Mackenzie Phillips: After abortion, 'I never let him touch me again'
Mackenzie Phillips told Oprah on her show today that her sexual relationship with her father -- Mamas and the Papas founder John Phillips -- began in a blackout and lasted a decade.
I think a lot of girls who grew up in those years could say the same, just not about their dad.
But Mackenzie insists the affair ended when she became pregnant and didn't know who the father was. Suspecting it was her dad's, she had an abortion -- that John Phillips paid for -- and "and I never let him touch me again."
OK, we get it, and we understand how important it is to make it public. But seriously, it kinda ruins the sweet, innocent Mamas and Papas' music for, like, ever.
We'll never listen to "California Dreamin' " again without thinking of John and his daughter together. How about you?

It SHOULD ruin your view of him forever. My gosh, he had sex with his kid. Why would anyone support this behavior. He ruined his kid's life forever. You are the reason people do not want to come out, because people like you make her feel bad and the abuse was NOT HER FAULT! Abused people feel the burden ofthe abuse that it was their fault for their lifetimes.

'California Dreamin'' is a song about drug abuse, so I don't think the 'innocence' of that will be tainted much.
When I heard Mackinzie say the words 'consentual insest' (spelled right or not) I got sick to my stomach. I lived through that from the age of 11 to over 40.....it is real.
After hearing her talk about her life, I believe I can begin to understand what happened in my own life.
It is frightening what can happen in the world of drugs and alcohol.
I admire and respect Mac for telling her story. I think I will try to purge my own pain.
Why didn't she come out when her fahter was alive so he can defend himself?
Lots, and I mean lots, of girls are screwing their dads. Doesn't make it right, but its a fact of life.
I think that Mackenzie Phillips is a disgusting person to tell such lies after her father is unable to defend himself. This useless, waste of space will do anything for attention and sell books to get more money to do drugs with.
Well I saw the show today and yes I was in shock...But than it dawned on me. We have something like this happen all the time. But "NO ONE NEVER TALKS ABOUT IT!" This is how sick men get power over their daughters. Why are we shocked, we should be ashamed, and my heart goes out to Mackenzie. When you are molested or abused you learn a "SICK" norn....the sick norn also effects the other children that when the truth comes out...They blame the one who is abused or deny it or worry who will find out...They may know about it but they don't want to face it. I will difentally read the book. I also wish I could meet Ms. Phillips to let her know that I know what she went through...Not my dad but others...You walk around thinking you have a sign on your forehead, saying "COME AND
ABUSE ME! She is right it is a Abuse of Power! Stay Strong and I will say a prayer that she stays clean and sober.
