Video Scoop: Alexie Gilmore will cross over on 'Grey's Anatomy' and 'Private Practice'
Alexie Gilmore, who plays Robin Williams' girlfriend in "World's Greatest Dad," opening this weekend, is busy shooting an episode of "Private Practice" this week.
She plays a dying woman who needs a kidney transplant, and her sister is the only person who can give it to her. She's already had to undergo the torso mold to prepare for her surgery scene.
After that, her character will "cross over."
No, not death. Or, at least, not right away. She's crossing over to "Grey's Anatomy," but she doesn't yet know what will happen to her character on "Grey's."
This is part of the network's multiple-character sweeps crossover plan to boost viewership for both shows.
Are you intrigued? ABC sure hopes so.
More "Dad" Dish:
It took two women to wax Robin Williams for his "Dad" nude scene.

The Grey's/PP crossover did not boost Grey's ratings last season. They remained solid as usual but no jump. As a matter of fact, three stand alone Grey's episodes not related to the crossover did much better than the GA crossover eps. Once Grey's/PP crossover ended, the ratings of Practice slid back down again. The reviews for them? Not great, fan support, less happy than you would imagine. It just goes to show you, ABC will never learn. If Practice is so good, it should not need Grey's to push it's ratings, but history shows it's not good enough to make it alone and ABC does nothing to prove us wrong on that sadly because here we go with the gimmicks again:(
