Bryce Dallas Howard was 'Twilight' first pick, before Rachelle Lefevre?
"Twilight" director Catherine Hardwicke told The Dish Rag at the Teen Choice Awards that Bryce Dallas Howard was who they initially wanted to cast as the redhead vampire Victoria.
But, according to Hardwicke, the "Twilight" role was too small for Bryce back then.
It then went to Rachelle Lefevre, a less proven newcomer.
But as everyone knows, Bryce has now replaced Rachel as Victoria, for whatever reason -- bad timing, another movie -- that you choose to believe.
Hey, you don't think they made the "Eclipse" role bigger to interest Bryce?
Anyway, Cathy's new "crazy modern" thriller film based on Hamlet" sounds pretty darn cool.
And there's gonna be great music too.

"I mean, part of me feels kind of guilty because they are both such indie spirits," Hardwicke reveals. "They are really artists, they like making meaningful art, interesting art."

Well I like Bryce Dallas Howard, I think Rachelle was great as Victoria and replacing an actress in an already established role is always a big mistake!
Well, that kind of seals it -- wouldn't you say? The part of Victoria was TOO small for Bryce Dallas Howard to consider but, after the first movie's success, the phenom we all know New Moon is going to be AND the role of Victoria expanded and being so pivotal to Eclipse, now she's interested. What is wrong with Summit? I was all for giving the studio (and BDH) the benefit of the doubt until hearing Ms. Hardwicke comments. If what she says is true (and let's face it, really what does she have to lose?) it's too bad this whole situation has cast such a palor on the extremely talents actors and the entire franchise! I kind of hope Rachelle sues the pants off the Hollywood "suits". Serves 'em right!
I blame Summit 100%!!! I can't imagine, anyone in their right mind aka: Bryce or Rachelle, would ask to be in such a cruddy situation.

Summit know they can do whatever they want and the Twi-hards are going to still come. No matter how pissed off we are, they know we can't do anything about it. I wish there was some ramification to Summit for being stupid and greedy. Money goes to the head quickly, doesn't it? You're a small indy film company, you get a mega hit, and suddenly you can walk on water and OVER anyone you want. I feel sorry for Rachel, BDH will NEVER be my Victoria. You don't treat people like that, and being too good for a "small" part in the 1st 2 movies yet good enough for the major part in the 3rd – I don't think so, any respect I might have had for BDH is gone. I'm still hoping Rachelle's legal eagles are good and, if they can't get her role back, then they at least make Summit PAY for their greed. The fans deserve to know what a bunch of crap Summit is feeding to us with their "scheduling conflict" BS.

This was so wrong. If I didn't love the Twilight Saga series so much, I wouldn't go see it just because of crap like this. Nobody seems to like this replacement. Maybe Summit will learn a lesson with this. But with a highly known "daddy" like she has... probably not.
They are going to ruin the movie.... U cannot replace and actress with another in the middle of the series! Even though Rachelle Lefevre doesnt have a huge role in it so far she is still established as Victoria and Bryce Dallas Howard is going to completely ruin the entire thing for me!

Rachelle Lefevre has not only beauty but brains - she's the brightest soul of the TWILIGHT lot, and has more personality than Bryce could EVER hope to project.
Rachelle will ALWAYS be Victoria just like Sean Connery will ALWAYS be James Bond...ALWAYS...ALWAYS...ALWAYS!!!
