Robin Williams, Bobcat Goldthwait improv their way through 'World's Greatest Dad' junket

Ever wonder what it would be like to sit down at a table and talk with Robin Williams?

You have no idea.

The comic genius award-winning actor -- clearly in fine form after his recent heart valve surgery -- and his pal writer-director Bobcat Goldthwait made a hilarious mess of the tiny tape recorders in front of them when they first sat down with a few reporters to talk about their new film, "World's Greatest Dad."

The two were seated at what's called in the biz a "round table" at the Four Seasons Hotel Friday. And yes, this really is how these things work. Reporters from various outlets are given seats at round tables -- in various rooms -- and the "talent" --  stars, writers, directors -- are brought in by publicists, to sit down and answer questions for 15 to 20 minutes.

Usually, these are fairly calm and reserved affairs. But in Williams' and Goldthwait's case, well, things got a little out of control.

At first, playing a shell game with tape recorders, the duo improv-ed and joked around throughout the interview. And, apparently, that was also the prevailing mood on the set of "Dad." Until -- as Robin puts it -- the meds kicked in.

Sadly, at the end of the hysterical session, one reporter discovered that her tape recorder had been accidentally switched off. Not to worry. Another reporter volunteered to send her a copy of his transcript.

Despite the wholesome family fare the title implies, "World's Greatest Dad" is a disturbing but ultimately uplifting black comedy about honesty, love, friendship, ambition, dreams and the nature of celebrity.

If you're expecting a broad family film such as "Mrs. Doubtfire," don't.

Instead, prepare to see Williams give one of the most subtle, hilarious and heart-breaking performances of his career. This one could be Oscar bait.

We'll have more inside scoop on the movie from this hilarious sit-down posted soon.

Stay tuned for more of the wild and wacky Robin and Bobcat Show!
