It's Twitter-official: Paula Abdul won't return to 'American Idol'
Paula Abdul told her Twitter fans Tuesday night that she was officially off "American Idol."
"With sadness in my heart, I've decided not to return to #IDOL. I'll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all...being a part of a show that I helped from day1 become an international phenomenon," read two tweets posted shortly after 7:30 p.m.

"What I want to say most, is how much I appreciate the undying support and enormous love that you have showered upon me," Abdul continued. "It truly has been breathtaking, especially over the past month.
"I do without any doubt have the BEST fans in the entire world and I love you all."
Fox has confirmed. "Paula Abdul has been an important part of the American Idol family over the last eight seasons and we are saddened that she has decided not to return to the show," Fox and producer FremantleMedia North America said in a statement. "While Paula will not be continuing with us, she's a tremendous talent and we wish her the best."
The $45-million man, "AI" host Ryan Seacrest, Twittered after hearing the news last night.
"About to go to sleep when I started seeing my blackberry blow up. I have read what u have read and I am shocked and saddened about paula," he wrote.
"Idol and the cast have grown with each other over the last 8 seasons..I can't imagine the panel without puala. She's a star @ a great friend," he added, followed by, "Spoke to randy..hope to speak with paula privately overnight."

I think that American Idol is making the most stupid decision to let Paula go for whatever reason, She is the sparkle of the show and if is for money, reconsider your decision because this will be your last year on tv
This sucks bad. Oh well. They overpay Ryan and Simon and they underpay Paula.
I am so upset about this news, one of the main reasons I watched idol every season was because of paula and her crazy antics. But deep down she really did have a passion and love for the new talent in America. Im sad to see her go, but will always love her many faces and antics on the show. Take a look!

I never liked Paula dancing and prancing the wat she did however she was kind to the contestants with her remarks I will not miss Paula I would miss Simon and Randy. I surely would choose Paula over that de guardia woman she did not contribute to the show at all last year was much too mouthy
I can't believe they're letting the genius of AI go!!! Her concise evaluations were what drove the show. I can only hope she re-launches her music career. That song she did recently was GREAT. She'll be a great "Queen of Pop" now that the child molesting "King" is thankfully dead!!!

Paula was the heart on this show. I was a critic until this season and realized that Kara, with all her music biz knowledge, did not have the star power or the grace that Paula, despite her sometiemes erratic behavior, brought to the show.
Paula didn't like to say anything negative to the contestants, but I will always cherish her "I really like your shoes" comments. We all knew what that meant.
So long, Paula. You will be sadly missed. It's the end of an era. Kara can never fill your (gorgeous) shoes.
I don't know why Fox wouldn't offer Paula what she wanted. She is a HUGE part of the show and Idol will not do good without her. One of the reasons I watch the show is to see Paula and the chemistry between her and Simon. Now there will be none and that and it will be boring if the singers aren't good. Hopefully Fox and Idol will reconsider quickly and offer her what she wants and deserves. She has been on the show for 8 years and deserves to get what she wants. I luv u Paula and wish you the best!!!!

Sad about Paula leaving, b/c she is the person on the show that truly has been a star. She has heart, does recogize talent, and is good at what she does. I probably will not watch w/o Paula on the show.
