Nirvana co-founder Krist Novoselic's ironic cameo in 'World's Greatest Dad'

Writer-director-comedian Bob Goldthwaite cast his old friend Krist Novoselic, bassist and co-founder of Nirvana, as a newsstand dealer in the black comedy "World's Greatest Dad."

Goldthwaite spoke at the press junket about asking Krist to be in the film and explaining the whole death-glorification plot this way:

"You know how sometimes when people die people reinvent them in a way because they want to make it about themselves and they lose sight of who the person really was and that they really were a real person, I don't know if you can relate to that. ..."

Krist just smiled and nodded.

That's Krist you will see comforting Robin in the emotional but hilarious scene where Robin's character breaks down and weeps in front of a rack full of porn because it reminds him of his son.

Thank God Krist didn't cheer him up.

The film opens Friday.
