Olivia Newton-John's
boyfriend of nine years, Patrick McDermott, vanished during a fishing trip off the coast of San Pedro in 2005.Now four years after being presumed dead, 'the bankrupt cameraman may be alive, living in Mexico.
Police had suspected he fell overboard, after finding only his wallet and keys on board. But there was also speculation that he faked his own death because of debt and child support.
According to KTLA, investigators say McDermott got a second passport under his birth name, Patrick Kim, and emptied two bank accounts. Now they say they are being contacted by his reps.
In the most recent fax from one of McDermott's reps to investigators, "Pat has asked that I portray to you his innocence. Pat has committed no crime. Pat simply wishes to be left alone. Let him live his life in peace and harmony. He is safe and has started anew again in a new place both physically and mentally. Stop this search immediately."
The U.S. Coast Guard says it will not reopen the investigation -- closed in 2006 -- into McDermott's disappearance.
Strange. Do you think he faked his own death?
