Ex-'American Idol' Paula Abdul will play a judge on 'Drop Dead Diva'
Paula Abdul is totally pysched about her new "Drop Dead Diva" role.
Fittingly, she plays an encouraging judge on the show about a model who is reincarnated into the body of a plus-size lawyer. She's already shot two shows (airs Sept. 13 and Oct. 11), and they are talking about her appearing on the second-season premiere.
"I'm playing a real judge in a courtroom speaking as Jane's [Brooke Elliott] conscience," she tells TV Guide. "I root her on and give her the gumption to do the things she needs to do to get what she wants."
What would it take to get Paula back on "American Idol"?
"That's a hard question to answer right now. I mean, I don't think I can answer that right now," Paula Abdul told Will Keck at TV Guide.
She still insists that leaving the show had nothing to do with money.
"I stand on principle where many people stand on money. ... And sometimes decisions are very difficult to make, but I've always believed that at the core I'm a survivor."
She's keen on doing a talk show but won't spill a single bean. Yet.
"I'd be Paula. It would be a lot of fun variety with a ton of unexpected stuff and tributes to everyday people getting their big chance."
