Woody Allen on 'getting lucky' in his new film, 'Whatever Works'
Woody Allen has definitely had a complex love life both on and off screen. And he continues to probe the mysteries of the human heart in his latest romantic comedy film, "Whatever Works."
Larry David plays a brilliant, misanthropic physicist named Boris Yellnikoff, and Evan Rachel Wood plays the adorable young Southern dim bulb who inexplicably falls in love with him.
But does love in real life ever work out? Yes, Allen says. But only if you're really, really lucky. Keep reading to watch an obscure video of Woody talking about the importance of love and luck.
"The world is a very indifferent meaningless violent place," Allen says in the "Whatever Works" press materials. "You can try your best to survive and be happy in it but you need luck to do it. And a lot more luck than you think."
Woody also addressed the issue of getting lucky in love at a press conference for his 2008 award-winning romantic comedy "Vicky Cristina Barcelona."
We shot this slightly surreptitious Celebrity Guerrilla video that day and for some reason, we hung on to it.
Now we know why.
Pay no attention to the man's butt at the beginning of this video. And be sure to crank up the volume.
Woody Allen is always worth listening to, especially when he talks about getting down with Lady Luck.
