Susan Boyle cancels performance on 'Britain's Got Talent' tour to rest

Susan-boyle-1

Susan Boyle pulled out of the "Britain's Got Talent" road show this weekend.

Doctors advised her to rest, reports the Daily Mail.

Why?

The Scottish singer sang in three shows over two days. She gave a fantastic performance of her anthem -- "I Dreamed a Dream" -- in Birmingham on Friday night, but she bailed on the Manchester gig on the national tour.

It has yet to be decided if she will be well enough to go onstage in Edinburgh on Tuesday.

Just two weeks ago, the 48-year-old Scottish singing sensation checked into a private clinic because of  the immense pressure and public interest in her.

But RadarOnline reports that SuBo's camp says there's no need for alarm. It's just a rest day.

Do you think Susan should slow down?

Maybe this media craziness is not healthy for her. It would be horrible if she suffered a breakdown or became ill as a result of all this insanity.

What do you think?

We know now that Susan is "moonlighting" while doing the BGT tour. On the side, she's doing the mega-money-per-minute corporate gigs that her BGT handlers have lined up for her. The BGT tour shows don't pay her anything. This means she'll cancel an appearance for her fans if she can make more money singing elsewhere. I don't like that they're making her look so greedy. The BGT show already humiliated her in order to heighten the drama of her ability to sing at all. The comical music when she entered and the audience snickers and judges' smirks made her a figure of ridicule. (Why don't her fans get that it was all completely scripted?) What I'm wondering is whether she really wants to be a commercial commodity like this. Is this what she had in mind? The greed makes her look really bad. Susan, is this how you want it?

I think the fact that she is resting when needed shows that she is taking care of herself. Layla, I don't know whether or not your claims of "moonlighting" are true but, if they are, might you make the same choice?

As for the BGT show, yes, they mistreated her at first - and have acknowledged, apologized, and been forgiven for it. Since SO many people around the world had the same initial response as the audience (including me), I don't believe it was scripted. Edited to the hilt for effect, certainly ... but not all scripted. I think Amanda had it right that it was a very big wake up call for any with a soul that can still be touched. For the rest who have been so unconscionably cruel about her, I wish them instant karma.

She is NOT moonlighting. The corporate gigs don't start until AFTER the BGT tours end. It's a contractual matter. Facts don't seem to mean much to some readers who are just looking for a chance to take potshots at Susan.

Re. the moonlighting, there are conflicting accounts in different newspapers. There have definitely been reports that the corporate appearances have begun already, as well as the work on the recording. Even with only two of those activities, it seems a lot for someone transitioning from church singing to professional touring schedule. In either case, though, it doesn't help Susan's image, and I think she should distance herself from the Britains Got Talent conglomerate. They want to make money, and they want to push her. Susan is left with the appearance either of not being able to handle the shows or, as has been said, of trying to make money elsewhere at the expense of fans who want to see her. So I think she would benefit enormously by making a clear break and a demarcation announcing new management. She deserves to have control over her schedule and her image.

Does anyone really think that the sensation oriented (truth or not) media in GB would miss an opportunity to report Susan is moonlighting? I'm surprised they have not already made that one up.

Only Susan and those close to her know the truth and thank God they are making the decisions on whether she is up to a tour date or not.
