Perez Hilton admits words can hurt and GLAAD is happy. R U?
Perez Hilton has acknowledged -- finally-- that power of his slur hurled at Will i. am. on his website after being asked to do so by GLAAD.
Here's GLAAD's response to Perez's statement.
"First and foremost it is important to remember that the violence committed against Perez Hilton is absolutely unacceptable and ought to be condemned in the strongest possible terms," said Rashad Robinson, Senior Director of Media Programs at the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD).
"Perez Hilton's acknowledgement that words can hurt is
an important step in the right direction, and while his change of tone is
welcome, he still seems to be justifying the use of the slurs," said
Robinson. "A statement that stops short of apologizing for and disavowing
the use of that slur doesn't get us where we need to be – these are
vulgar anti-gay slurs that feed a climate of hatred and intolerance that
continues to put our community in harm's way. When someone from our community
uses a far-reaching media platform to promote these kinds of slurs, it sends a
message that it's OK to use these dehumanizing words."
"This is an important moment. Now that Perez Hilton has acknowledged
that words can hurt, GLAAD calls on him to take this opportunity to reflect on
his use of demeaning and defamatory language against many different communities
on PerezHilton.com - not as Perez Hilton, but as Mario Lavandeira, an openly
gay man who just went through a scary and traumatic experience."

He 'apology' is a joke. He's not sorry in the least that he called another (to quote him) 'human being' a horrible anti-gay slur that is used to show hate towards others. IMO he has done nothing more than spit on Matthew Shepard's (and the thousands of others who have died due to hate crimes) grave with his use of that word to hurt will.i.am.
If he called will.i.am a racist term, he'd be hung out to dry by the media. More needs to be done about this. MUCH more than a fake apology anyways.

Perez Hilton or whatever his real name is hasn't apologized. He called his accountant who told him there's a huge petition ready to make him disappear from media he thinks he rules and therefore he issued something to cool the fire down.
This totally irritating individual, who makes a living out from dissing constantly people whom, although often are not much more relevant than he is, at least try to do something (well, if you exclude Paris Hilton, The Hills cast and some more he conatntly writes about) for real, he's such an hypocrite he makes me sick.

No it is not enough for me Hilton used the gay community for years outing people ruining lives careers and pushing back civil rights for gay/bi Americans by years. If someone wishes to out themselves that is up to them if they get outted due to their actions that is one thing but for him to out people for money! then use that term the most anti gay term. I may not be gay but I support gay rights and this man needs to go away for good. He is nothing and no one and has no talent but his malice and greedy to be famous and be kissed up to by the famous.
The way he makes a living shows the type of man he is .He is an offensive disgusting human being. He expected everyone to be on his side. Now he's just trying cover his tracks.His apology means nothing
What saddens me so much is that so many people make this dummy into something he surely is not, a decent, caring human being.
