John Mayer compares Michael Jackson to a Rubik's Cube and 3-D glasses?

According to John Mayer, Michael Jackson was the '80s.

He writes on Time.com -- because there's just not enough room on Twitter -- about the highlights of that decade: "A Rubik's Cube, 3-D glasses and Michael Jackson."

But he has more deep thoughts.

"Michael Jackson proves, in a really sort of perverse way, that maybe we're not as offended by behavior as we are entranced by music. And think about that. Think about what level of quality you must have to attain to have somebody say, "I know that you're accused of having molested children, but I can't hate you for that as much as I love you for your music."

OK, was that an insult or just seriously insensitive?

Mayer sums up: "There's just one Michael Jackson now. We don't have to reconcile the Michael Jackson we love with another Michael Jackson. In a way, he has returned to pristine condition in death. We can be free now for the rest of our lives to love the Michael Jackson we used to love."

Do you agree? Or is pompous, pretentious Mayer off the wall, as usual?

John Mayer is so bad. All the things he's done that are not lily white and people buy his music. Care to try that statement again, John?

John Mayer wants to be back in the headlights. This in not about him nor do he and MJ have anything in common. Jennifer Aniston was this douche's ticket to fame and it's all over for Mayer. I never liked him. Stupid talk from a creep who wet his pants in one photo I saw on TMZ. Disgusting!

He has a point. Apart from some b-media outlets, no one barely speaks about the fact that MJ, before his death, was labeled a freak. When you think about it, that's pretty strange.

I think John Mayer is completely right. Michael Jackson was a nobody before he died. Now all of a sudden everyone has always been a fan. He was a doucher

MJ was acquitted of child molestation...unanimously. By every single member of the jury. If you believe in the U.S. court of law, this is a certain verdict of innocence. People who continue to accuse, or insinuate him, of child molestation, are ignorant. Btw, who IS John Mayer, anyway?

I agree with John Mayer too. It's strange how suddenly Michael Jackson is talked about as an icon where a week ago he was ridiculed. Too bad nobody cared enough to offer him true friendship when he was alive.

Yes, he's right. We're not as offended by Mayer's inability to stop talking out of his arrss as we are entranced by going to his concerts to pick up teenage girls. And think about that. Think about how much of a painfully wannabe limited blues player you have to be to have people say "I know that he can't ever shut his pie hole while forcing me to listen to him talk endlessly about himself and "his" music, but I can't hate him for that as much as I love picking up teenage girls at his concerts."

Somebody, please for the love of God shut this guy up. Just play your mediocre music dude, and keep the teenage girls coming! Geeze!.

michael jackson was a nobody before he died??? Who the hell are you and how old are you?

THE BIGGEST STAR of ALL TIME, whether good press or bad press. THE BIGGEST.

Goodnight keith.

Wow!!! I was John's biggest fan.. until now. In the U.S you are innocent unless proven guilty.
In the case of some one's death if you don't have words of kindness or condolences.... Maybe u keep it to yourself. Not only have I lost Mj... I've lost John too. It's unfortunate as I've been to so many of his concerts, he recognizes me by face. What a aweful week it's been!!

Why would anyone be upset by this obvious truth.

Micheal Jackson had issues, but he was an enormous talent and that is what we care about.

He was "Never A Nobody!"

Being from his generation, I can say he was a very large, influential part of it and extra ordinally talented beautiful person (the rest is of the issues to be set aside)
