David Letterman apologizes to Sarah Palin and family over daughter mix-up
Sarah Palin and Todd Palin nailed David Letterman to the wall last week, and some viewers called for him to be fired.
Finally, Letterman explained last night that his jokes referencing former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer and New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez were intended to be aimed at the former vice presidential candidate's 18-year-old daughter, Bristol Palin.
It turns out it was all a big Willow/Bristol mix-up. And Dave is really, really sorry about that.
"I told a bad joke," David Letterman explained last night on his show. "I told a joke that was beyond flawed, and my intent is completely meaningless compared to the perception."
Seems Bristol was not the daughter Palin took on her trip to New York City. Rather, it was her 14-year-old daughter, Willow.
Oh, dear.
"It's not your fault that it was misunderstood -- it's my fault," Letterman said. "So I would like to apologize, especially to the two daughters involved, Bristol and Willow, and also to the governor and her family and everybody else who was outraged by the joke. I'm sorry about it, and I'll try to do better in the future. Thank you very much."
Should David be forgiven or fired?
And how about the writers of that joke? Surely, they should be taken to task.
All Dave does is read the darned jokes off cue cards.

Ah. Another victory for the Right, and another exposee of the hypocrisy of the Left. No wonder the poll numbers for democrats are sinking faster than a rock.
Sarah should most definatly seek other means of promotion rather than the media. She deserves to be a target for hilarity just the same as any other public person. Is she so blind and stupid along with the rest of her family to understand that the media could do so much more harm than a simple pun on late night television, should they investigate her family and surroundings here in Alaska. Goody - two - shoes?.... I think not. If she can't stand the heat, get out of the public eye, Getting too close to the truth sometimes really hurts. I wish David Letterman the best of luck, and sincerely hope that he continues to grace us with his humor... regardless of it's nature and topic. Keepin himself unbias and ready to take on any public figure is what makes him a true comedian. Keep up the good work. Don't ever appologize for doing a good job.
Sarah Palin needs to SHUT UP. She needs to take responsible for her kid's actions. She needs to stop blaming others for not teaching her kid right.
She so worry about what one person said about her kids, well I'm mad at all the offensive things she said about everyone who voted for Barack Obama. I hope Johnston suits Palin for making him the bad person. If it was anyone else she would be HATEING on them. O Hay, they always do that; they are Republican.

David L is as outdated as the left media. I am a republican with very liberal social views, but i do not believe the government needs to set up shop in my butt. Sarah p is one of the good guys. Who doesn't belive in home and family, with the exception of Bill C and the other masogynistic good ol' boys still around. At least if Sarah was our VP she would have john m's back. Not like that back biter Biden, he can't wait til BO gets kicked to the curb so he can take his spot and if BO doesn't start acting like a president, a leader instead of a tv star he may not get his full 4 years. We are still in iraq, no stimulus check for me, oil has skyrocketed again and his spending, er I mean stimulis package will bankrupt our shildren and our children's children.
