'Eclipse' director David Slade apologizes to fans for 'Twilight' bashing
David Slade, recently chosen as the director of the third movie in the "Twilight" franchise, has already made rabid Twilighters angry.
According to slashfilm.com, he allegedly made some anti-"Twilight" cracks on his now-defunct Twitter account, and they have the audio to prove it.
"'Twilight' drunk? No, not even drunk.'Twilight' on acid? No, not even on acid? 'Twilight' at gunpoint? Just shoot me."
Twilighters have risen up in fury at his remarks, and he has issued an apology to Twilight Lexicon, the go-to website for all things "Twilight" on the Internet.
"When I made these comments, I had neither seen the film nor read the books. I was promoting a comedy short film that I had made for Xbox and every pop culture subject was seen as a possible comedy target. I was being silly and none of the statements were from the heart.
"Of course, I have since seen the movie and read the books and was quickly consumed with the rich storytelling and the beautifully honest characters that Stephenie Meyer created.
"I would like to reassure everyone involved that I am invested in making the best film that I am humanly capable of, and that I am acutely aware of the power of the original books we serve.
"Please be rest assured this statement is absolutely from the heart."
Yeah, and from the wallet...

He doesn't deserve this awesome job he's landed. Find someone that will appreciate what they've been given.
I am really disappointed that they would choose someone to direct Eclipse that could have said such things. I don't buy his appology and I think they could find a more suitable director.
too many directors out there that would love to do it with the crap talk. He wants money let him get it somewhere else. If you do not love the stories you can't make the movie. Especially Eclipse,which I consider to be the best book of the series.
Twilighters - Don't you see that he's flipping you off in this picture? Judge him on his past work, not on his Twitter account.
I know we're not suppose to judge but he looks like a Consentration Camp "PIG" for you young one's out there that's where the Jews were slaughtered.
I don't believe he is sincere in his statements, especially after the uproar. Considering that the Twilight Saga has become a major cash cow,, I guess the "PIG" is backtracking. I don't believe too many people young or OLD LIKE ME are going to believe him.
*sigh* they need either Chris or Catherine (preferably Chris) back. at least they didn't insult the series. i don't know if he meant what he said when he insulted it, but i sure as hell don't believe he meant what he said in his apology. but it doesn't matter i guess, the job's already done
So what if the guy is a total jerk, his other movies are awesome. If you can get past the premise of the movie and appreciate a great film check out Hard Candy. It is always impressing when a director can make a great film with only a duet. Not to mention, any true movie junkie would say that Twilight wasn't really a great film (i had to reread the book to get the real story back in my head instead of the chopy movie), and even though New Moon was much better I do NOT understand how Weitz could let the actors on set with that awful hair and make-up. I also feel that fans should be screaming about so many different directors because the ambiance of the film changes with each new movie making it really hard to dive into the world of twilight. give the jerk a break because i have a feeling that he will be the first to actually meet Twilight fans expectations, and this is coming from a VERY big fan.
He ruined the movie!!! He replaced the actress for Victoria!!! Biggest mistake ever in movie history no joke! I think you should remake the whole thing and put Rachelle in it
