The Dish Rag can now report that First Lady Michelle Obama wore a classic Isabel Toledo black and white full-skirt ensemble (and pearls) to meet Queen Elizabeth today. The black cardigan is by Azzedine Alaia.
What do you think of the outfit? And the bouffy do?
And while we're at it, what do we think of the Queen's pastel pink frock with pleated mid-calf skirt and sensible shoes?
We love love Lizzie's totally punk George Washington hair. Clearly a salute to the colonies. You rock, Queenie!

Love the First Lady's style, but thought this ensemble too informal for a visit to the Queen at Buck House. If Mrs. O had just replaced the cardigan with an unstructured jacket, she'd have been gorgeous AND appropriate. OR, if the Obamas had visited their Royal Highnesses at Balmoral or Windsor, the sweater --elegant, but still a sweater--would have been just fine.
Great clothes, but they have to suit the occasion.

i think michelle looks like a pidgeon-toed crow. what's is up with the ensenble. I'll admit the pearls look great but she'd probably look better w/ just the pearls since she's (supposedly) been working SO hard on her abs! YFCC
Sorry, but it was entirely too casual to meet the Queen. Poor Michelle, she's so afraid of overdressing that she always looks half done. Anyone with fashion training knows that sleeveless dresses should be reserved for summer or on dressier after 5 outfits. Someone should work with her-- left on her own, she's a mess. I don't care how good her arms are, cover up for God's sake. !!!
The sweater is not appropriate attire and she pulled the sleeves up way too much. All in all, a miss. You would think with such a large entourage of advisers and stylists she could have made a more elegant choice. The little cardigans are getting tiresome as well. What's wrong with wearing a tailleur?
Michelle is adorable no matter what she wears...very proud that she is our First Lady.
She looks great-She rocks! Michelle is the coolest- a full figured gal-who is proud of it-she is a babe!
The people criticizing Mrs. Obama's appearance must all be very old or very conservative. Mrs. Obama looks (and is!) youthful, refreshing, honest, and a first lady I am thoroughly enjoying as an American.
