Did Miss California Carrie Prejean's gay-marriage answer cost her the Miss USA crown?
Miss California Carrie Prejean has stirred up a hornet's nest of controversy with her remarks about gay marriage on the Miss USA beauty pageant last night.
On the show, judge Perez Hilton, an openly gay blogger, asked whether she believes in gay marriage.
Miss California replied, "We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite. And you know what, I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised."
She believes her answer cost her the crown.
"It did cost me my crown," Prejean said of her response on Billy Bush's show.. "I wouldn't have had it any other way. I said what I feel. I stated an opinion that was true to myself and that's all I can do."
Keith Lewis, who runs the Miss California competition, tells FOXNews.com that he was "saddened" by Prejean's statement.
"As co-director of the Miss California USA, I am personally saddened and hurt that Miss California believes marriage rights belong only to a man and a woman," Lewis said in a statement. "I believe all religions should be able to ordain what unions they see fit. I do not believe our government should be able to discriminate against anyone and religious beliefs have no politics in the Miss California family."
What do you think? It's her opinion. And there's still free speech, right?
Besides, she told Billy Bush on Access Hollywood that her sister is a second lieutenant in the Air Force and a gay-rights activist. But she is not gay.
Carrie told Bush that her sister told her, "Sis, I'm not offended by anything that you said. We have two different opinions and I love you because of it. I love you because you stood up for what was right, and it's not a matter of being gay or not gay, it's a matter of you competing for Miss USA and getting a question and answering it to the best of your ability."

who cares? maybe it is because she is too darn skinny!
(1) Totally unfair question.
(2) Beauty contestant vs. Perez Hilton - Clash of the intellectual titans.
Frankly, Carrie Prejean has every right to express her views towards marriage but P. HILTON has absolutely NO, NO, & NO authority to question Carrie with any POLITICAL stand! Mrs. Hilton should be the one that getting REPRIMANDED for VIOLATING contestant rules for involving politics during pageant air time.
Finally, we CALIFORNIANS are very tired of our leaders being bought by a select few with "MASSIVE CASH BONUSES" for the sake of pushing their HIDDEN agenda of giving them SPECIAL rights for their "CHOSEN Hyper-Active LIFESYTLE!"
Let us now support Carrie Prejean In The FREEDOM Of Speech, Common-Sense that marriage is betwwn a man & WOMAN, and Protect our Childrens Future Security!
Im so glad she stood up for what she believed in and didn't jump the bandwagon. She has my vote. I bet every homosexual hates her now. Im with her, no offense but that stuff isn't right.
If it did, shame on the organizers, and double shame on Perez Hilton, known flamer and irrelevant personality of the useless Glamour entourage and all the radical believers in same sex marriage, a "contra natura" fact of life that we have to live with but not necessarily condone.
Perez Hilton???? Who is he anyway? The bigger question is who does he think he is? And how does the Miss America Pagent Board allow such pathetic person like Hilton (who must be less than normal) be involved in asking questions? To ask a such a politically loaded question to a Christian was way off base. It is my opinion that low-life Hilton purposely wanted to publicly embarrass her. Well, his attempt at such humiliation has back-fired in his face. She stood firm on her convictions......something Hilton knows nothing of........ I applaud her for her stand and her unwillingness to bow to the far left. Come on Hilton....normal is being a real man, not a half-baked noodle that has no concept of morality!
Hey Bill; Is your caps lock key broken? Or is that the only way you feel you can make a point with your low intellect?
She should'nt have implied that homosexuality is a choice, It isnt and it does offend people.
As much as I'm for personal freedoms in America, I feel they had no business asking the girl her opinion on a hot-button political issue, such as abortion or gay marriage. Making her score in a beauty contest dependent upon her political views was a violation of her First Amendment rights.
No crown could be worth betraying your faith and personal integrity! Bless Carrie for the candor and courage to speak her mind risking the coveted Miss America honours. Bless a geniuine role mode for the new generation. We are proud of you!l
