Madonna donates $500,000 to Italy quake victims. Hide your bambinas!
Just days after being turned down as a proper parent for a new daughter from Malawi, a country that she has helped financially for several years, Madonna is reaching out to another country.
She reportedly donated half a million dollars Tuesday to help residents of the Abruzzo region of Italy, where a 6.3 earthquake left more than 200 people dead and some 50,000 homeless.
Why the interest in that area of Italy?
Turns out, the Ciccones, Madonna's paternal grandparents, lived in the village of Pacentro (in the city of L'Aquila, near the earthquake's epicenter) until 1919.
"I am happy to lend a helping hand to the town that my ancestors are from," Madonna said in a statement. "My heart goes out to the families that have lost loved ones or their homes."
Madonna is reportedly appealing last week's denial of her adoption petition, a ruling made over the residency requirement necessary for her to adopt Mercy James, 3, from Malawi.
What do you think? Is Madonna scouting for more babies? Might be nice to get one from her grandparents' hometown.

This article is written without a shred of tact. What in the world does donating money have to do with wanting a child? Instead of wasting your time writing this trash, YOU should be doing something constructive to help the victims of the earthquake in Italy.
what is wrong with you???? she's helping out by donating money , and kids-again only helping and improving the lives of these children.any child!!
kudos to madonna
Madonna is doing this for attention. That baby thief doesn't care about those people. The earthquake probably happened because her family came from that place.
assuming Madonna only wants to adopt baby girls and not a baby girl or a baby boy, your headline should say 'le bambine', not bambinas--which is an English plurization of an Italian singular word, which makes no sense grammatically.
While I am not a fan of Madonna, I believe that she is donating clearly due to the fact that her great grandparents came from the village. There is nothing sinister or ulterior about it in this case. Now if she had donated to Malawi, then that would have been to get the kid.
Leave her alone, at least she is doing something constructive with her money and being charitable. What about all of you reading this, when was the last time you made a donation or gave a helping hand to someone in need, maybe a stranger out of the goodness of your heart???
It is really annoying when a NOBODY that has no claim to any fame uses a superstar like Madonna to gain their fifteen minutes of "so-called" fame...Again how much did you donate? My guess is NOTHING, just donating venom into the world.
Being from that same town of pacentro and visiting the area every summer to visit family I am very sorry to hear that you think she is doing this to get a child. Maybe you should be less concered with trivial things and focous on more important things.
This is an article in the poorest of taste - there's nothing more repulsive than people scoffing at the good deeds of others, when they spend their time doing no more than writing distasteful celebrity blogs. Good on Madonna.
I'm very sorry for this "article".
I strongly believe that Madonna has donated to helpfully support people of her ancestors' country, so damaged and anguished in these days.
Surely you ignore the following information about Italy: Italy is a rich, civil country were adoptions are strictly regulated by laws and formal procedures. The adoption process in Italy is very long and slow, because of the numerous financial and psychiatric checks and inspections to ensure a comfortable and healthy home for adopted children. No money could facilitate this process.
In this painful circumstance, in L'Aquila, children are with their parents and relatives, with a special team of clown therapists, pedagogists and developmental psychologists supporting them to cope with the shock. With their proverbial solidarity and sense of community and brotherhood, Italians are sending money, food, medications, clothes, and toys to the earthquake victims. Abruzzo's children are homeless and scared, but full of love and support.
p.s. "bambinas" is wrong. The plural of "bambino" is "bambini" (male) or "bambine" (female).
