Janeane Garofalo says 'absolutely not' to meeting Rush Limbaugh and Lynne Cheney
Janeane Garofalo plays Janis Gold on "24," and the role may seem like an unlikely one for the outspoken liberal. After all, "24" has even been called "torture porn" for its glamorization of questionable interrogation tactics.
In an interview with the Village Voice yesterday, Garofalo discusses the apparent disconnect between her politics and the show's, saying, "At first I passed on it because of the right-wing nature of a couple of the writers."
Eventually, however, Garofalo relented. "There's only one or two right-wingers in the whole show, in the writer's room. There's nobody else whose opinions reflect that in the cast or the crew. And then midway through when I was working there the main right-winger left the show anyway," she says.
Here, she is referring to series creator Joel Surnow. In the interview, Garofalo is complimentary of Surnow, however she draws the line at set visits from his pals, Rush Limbaugh and Lynne Cheney.
"When Rush Limbaugh visited the set, and when Lynne Cheney visited the set, I refused to have my picture taken with them or meet them or anything," Garofalo tells the Village Voice.
"I didn't want to make a scene out of it and not even go meet them in front of people. When somebody came to me privately and said, 'Do you want to meet them?' I said, 'Absolutely not.' But I would never have made a big show of it and embarrassed people who worked there. Not that they were interested in meeting me. And, to tell you the truth, I doubt that Lynne Cheney even knew who I was."

Who cares what she thinks.
Her presence on 24 is visually disturbing. Cheney and Limbaugh are better for her demurral.
Janeane Garofalo
I am not a racist redneck nor do I have a problem with a Black person in office. I do however have the right to say no new taxes Mr. President. I could tell the difference on 24 this year and I believe it has lost it's edge I think now it must be more of a left wing slant . I do see however that the show is kindof reflecting what is going on in America today. You know Jack is going to be prosicuted
> They have no idea what the Boston Tea party was about. They don't know their history at all.
This is a quote from an article about her. How does she know what people know? Is she God? How do people get so brainwashed and delusional? Does she have mental problems?
I stop watching "24" after the they got rid of the conservative writers. I knew there was a big difference in how those ridiculus expisodes were going even from last year's show.
And yet, this season of "24" has been one of the best in years -- this according to critics and fans alike.
Sorry haters.
Not wanting to meet with Limbaugh? Your excuse of "not wanting to make a scene" is a out right lie. You know you would not be able to spew your "off the cuff" illogical rants. and get away with it. You accused me and others of being racist because of our free choice of protest against taxes. I say you slandered thousands of people. It's time you wake up!!
The high level of Ms. Garofalo's talent is matced by the low level of her class and brains. So much for Ying and Yang
Ms. Garofalo is very lucky to be working at all. She is over 40, plain looking, and never was a huge comic talent. She should be grateful for what she has done, and be thankful she can still work on TV. It's very easy to get cheaper even better talent these days.
The Irony is amazing on how almost halve of the country wants to admire people who supported and promoted Killing of innocent babies women children and men in a foreign country. When the Bush administration invaded Iraq over lies and greed. If you object to this than you are un-American. If saddam Hussein had done that what would we call it. Like invading Kuwait. Then ran up a deficit so high that it tip the scale on all the greed in this country and put America in the place we are now. Where were the tea parties then? Where is the logic now? America has done a lot of good in this world but it has also done a lot of really horrible things too. We have to own up to the whole picture. If you refuse to look at the truth and learn from the error of your ways history will repeat it's self over and over again. Keep Talking Ms Garofalo.
first, she calls anyone who believes taxes and spending are too high, klan members.
then she says any black man or woman who dares disagree with her or obama has stockholm syndrome.
24 is nothing but war on terror propaganda.
