Was David Letterman way too easy on Beyonce last night?

David Letterman spent quite a lot of time last night talking with Beyonce about her career, her Grammys, her sister, her earrings, her upcoming world tour and her scary new movie, "Obsessed."

But not a single word about that hilarious, screeching board-mix hoax that set the Web on fire this week?

Sure, it's been officially called a hoax. And even Beyonce has laughed about it.

So c'mon, Dave. You wouldn't have let Joaquin Phoenix slide on something like this.

Surely making her listen to a few seconds of it would have been hilarious.

Was Dave under strict Sasha Fierce publicist orders not to mention it?

We think so. You can just tell he's biting his tongue. What do you think? Is Dave losing his edge?

More Beyonce Dish:

Was that a cat in heat or Beyonce's board mix?

Beyonce laughs at the board-mix hoax. Do we believe her?

I think he might genuinely like and respect her. He gushed about her the whole night, perhaps he knew it was a tacky scam and there was no need to address it so he just focused on her amazing career. He joked with her about falling down the stairs, but he appears to have admiration for her so he respected her and avoided the topic. Or maybe when they taped it he didn't know anything about it.

Another question about Letterman: What's with him repeating the same jokes? Two nights in a row now, he's told the same joke about waterboarding a terrorist 183 times ("you'd think he would catch on"), and I think he reprised a couple of the Somalian pirate jokes (and maybe even a Spitzer gag) from Wednesday night also. I recall thinking the same thing a couple of weeks ago; can't remember which jokes, but they seemed to be very similar to those he'd told the night before. Is there a writer's strike we don't know about?

He didn't bring it up because he knows Beyonce isn't smart enough to stand a chance. He would have looked like a bully preying on the defenseless.

Is that not what Letterman is good at? Being a bully and preying on the defenseless. Beyonce isn't smart, she did marry that ugly guy who had the nerve to cheat on that beautiful girl left and right during the relationship. Just a tip: Very few people in the "entertainment" industry think for themselves. Congrats on the marriage Dave but shouldn't that have been done BEFORE you had your son with Regina?
