Even Britney Spears can't sit through a Britney concert, walks off stage
Did you miss her? Britney returned Wednesday night in a cloud of smoke. Literally.
During a sold-out concert in Vancouver, Canada, the Britster gave new meaning to the term "Circus" when she stormed off stage, allegedly because someone in the audience was smoking, inciting all manner of mayhem: Screams, boos, the works. She had performed for 15 minutes. That's three songs.
According to the Vancouver Sun, a crew member announced that things had been put on hold because of smoking in the building. "It's become uncomfortable and unsafe for the performers, including Ms. Spears." Um, has "Ms. Spears" ever been to a concert?
But the madness wasn't over yet. This is Britney Spears after all, and although her concerts don't always deliver in the "performing" department, they never fail to serve up a heaping dose of "huh?" Brit came back, sang "Me Against the Music" -- all the way through! -- then began "Everytime," got bored and left the stage mid-song.
Then, she came back, sang some more and offered some sage advice -- "Vancouver, don't smoke weed" -- before departing for good.
Her website features an apology for the bizarro evening, blaming a "ventilation issue." Hey, at least that's original. Claiming "exhaustion" is so '08.

Isn't there always some smoke at a train wreck?
The smoke was not actually the problem. My friend works at GM Place and was back stage last night. He said that she had a tear in her stocking and became very stressed and upset about it. It took 30 minutes for the crew to calm her down and reapply her makeup. They could not announce that she was upset over a wardrobe issue because she would look totally nuts. The smoke was an excuse for her absence.
Gee Stephanie - Are you BIASED MUCH? That's a terrible article! Your Editor should be ashamed for printing it!
In the Good Old Days of the 20th Century, talented entertainers performed (and actually sang) in smoke-filled nightclubs.
shut up doug
Apparently its OK to flash your hoohaa to the world but not OK to smoke weed at a concert.
van_chic and Pedro, I can't believe the author approved your infantile comments. The both of you are a million times more pathetic than Britney.
I apologize van_chic and Pedro. I meant to say that Pearl and Tim are more pathetic than Britney.
