Caught on video: Keira Knightley brutally beaten by boyfriend!

Keira Knightley is doing what Rihanna should do.

Taking a firm and public stand against violence toward women.

The award-winning British actress is shown being brutally attacked by her boyfriend in a disturbing new anti-domestic violence video for Women's Aid.

The two-minute clip opens with the actress heading home from a long day of filming. When she arrives home, her boyfriend verbally and physically attacks her, accusing her of having an affair with a costar.

But be warned. It looks real.

Knightley lays on the floor as the beating continues, and when the camera pans out, you see an empty film set.

"Isn't it time someone called cut?" the ad says. The video will air on April 6 in movie theaters.

Knightley volunteered to star in her "Atonement" director Joe Wright's video  because "while domestic violence exists in every section of society we rarely hear about it. Domestic violence affects one in four women at some point in their lifetime and kills two women every week."

Right on, Keira.

Seriously, Keira is wonderful for bringing attention to this issue! I think she is one of the very few young actresses who has a good head on her shoulder!

There are so many young women that are beginning to suffer from domestic violence, maybe if they see this video and can identify with her situation they will get the help they need.

Domestic violence can affect any woman in the world, even beautiful and talented actresses like Keira.

sorry but I can't relate to this. it's too one-sided. guys just don't beat their girl friends/spouses/significant others when they walk in the door. there's always an argument first that escalates into violence. I'll bet this doesn't resonate with women, either. looks like some discarded footage from a law and order episode.

Uh, Wrong, Christopher. There are many cases wherein that IS the case. Domestic violence doesn't always follow that "formula" that you illustrated.

I have to disagree that an escalated argument always precedes violencer. As a victim of spousal abuse, who finally got out of the situation, I have been attacked after just saying hello to my ex when he walked through the door. He had been stewing on the way home over something that happened at his white collar job and as soon as he walked through the door he began screaming about that situation and then took it out hard on me. It's difficult to understand this type of personality and situation, but it happens. I for one am glad that Ms. Knightely and Mr. Wright are bringing attention to this issue.

This should NEVER BE TOLERATED!!!

Any sort of Abuse is UNACCEPTABLE!

NEVER TRUST a Known Abuser.

A lot of people around me think I have "empathic" esp because of the way I can read people's moods but it comes from growing up with a physically abusive father who could turn violent with no apparent warning-just because he was "in a mood"-so everyone around him had to become hyper-aware, leave or be beaten endlessly. Trust me, there's no argument necessary.

You are VERY wrong Christopher. This add resonates with too many women, because these are the real life situations women find themselves in.

I have done research on domestic abuse and men who are abusive and always suspicious of their partner and violence can happen in many ways; either verbal or physical, fast or slow.

Please, next time you post on such a serious issue do some serious research!

Christopher, are you saying that you CAN relate to domestic violence that is preceded by an argument? That's creepy.

The point, of course, isn't what happens before abuse occurs. You could be arguing, or just walking in the door, or eating cake. Who cares. The point is, abuse is unacceptable, regardless of context.

Probably a very educational video.....for the 5 people on LA Times that got to see it. It's now been pulled from You Tube. Oh well.

Ok we always hear about men hitting women but what about the women that hit their men and the man will not hit them back becuase it is moraly wrong for a guy to hit a girl . But I have hit my husband (which I am getting help fore my anger I was abused physically and mentatlly as a child , and it hard for me to control my anger) I think there are alot of women out there that think it is ok to hit men becuase they are bigger then them and we can not hurt them as bad but that not true we might not physically hurt them as bad but emotionally hurt them which is also bad . It Not always the man that abuses women can do it to and i am sorry to say i have did it in the past but working hard on never doing it again
