Celebrity ooops: Ricky Gervais pulls a Christian Bale!

Way before we heard Christian Bale's expletive-riddled rant on the set of "Terminator: Salvation," over a director of photography clomping around during Bale's big moment, Ricky Gervais had his own noise issues during a press interview for "Ghost Town."

But the tape has only now been made public. Watch the shockingly "Extras" performance.

"Sorry, we've got to stop this walking in and out," a distracted Gervais says to the crew.

Told there is a "problem," he says, "Oh well, let's stop, then," and starts to get up off his chair.

Told that they're"'monitoring the problem," Ricky tries to go on, but stops again.

"Four minutes and it's hard enough to concentrate," Gervais complains, politely asking the crew to move a nearby mirror that's also causing a distraction and to stop the tape so the interviewer won't lose her interview airtime.

"Stop, let's stop. Let's stop. Let's stop taping. It's not fair...."

Finally, they get the noise quieted down and Ricky can continue answering the tough question, "What's it like working with Greg (Kinnear) and Tea (Leoni)?"

And you thought your job was hard.

Frankly, we think Ricky could give Christian lessons in how to do a veddy polite British rant. Without all those F-bombs!

No he does not pull a Bale.

Gervais honestly had an issue with people coming in and out while he is being interviewed. It is explained when he makes it clear that the interviewer had only four minutes. If anything, he was generous in stating that it was not fair for the interviewer and that he did not want her time to be cut into due to the problems.

This was obviously not a Bale or even close to it.

Pulls a Christian Bale? What kind of nonsense is this? He's being a fairly considerate professional trying to do his job in a limited given amount of time. And how old is this anyway??

Seriously, what kind of BS is this? Are you proud to report this in this manner? Do you feel journalistically satisfied by presenting this the way you did? Do you think about what you report at all? Are you actually a paid professional, and did you ever think when you were in college that this is how you would make your living? IDIOCY.

See? Ricky Gervais is such a nice bloke... His only concern was for the interviewers 4-minute slot being wasted.

Let's see what The Sun thinks about it:

"RICKY GERVAIS IN INTERVIEW STROP!"

"Ricky Gervais pulls a Christian Bale"?! Ricky Gervais did nothing like that.

Get real and find something else to do with yourself.

How desperate is 'The Envelope' for the slightest bit of controversy? This is completely twisted to make Ricky look like a prima donna. His comments; 'Four minutes and it's hard enough to concentrate', and 'Let's stop taping. It's not fair.' are quite obviously not in reference to himself, rather the fact that each interviewer has 4 minutes, and it's not fair if that time is taken up by people making noise and interrupting the interview. How has this been minced into a news story?

The headline is a bit misleading, he hardly pulled a Christian Bale....cant wait 'til the Daily Mail gets a hold of this, lets see what they have to say.

um... I'm pretty sure this was planned out

Wow... I hope you're being ironic here.

I think Gervais is actually commendable for his actions here because he was genuinly concerned about the interviewer losing her time slot and not being able to do her job. So much so that he was willing to take extra time to do so.

He didn't swear, he wasn't rude he was every bit the professional.

Wow - calm down Ricky! Geeezz, I thought that interviewer was going to cry. Why, Ricky, why be so cruel? This is outragous! Where is the public apology?... A disgrunted fan

(in case there are any *unts reading this - it is called SARCASIM!) Ricky Gervais is the best!!

Phew! From your headline I was worried that this would mar my image of Ricky Gervais. But he is a true class act; more concerned for the interviewer than for himself. I bet you wish all celebrities were as thoughtful, huh Elizabeth?
