Nadya Suleman gets $135,000 a month in free child care!
According to Us Weekly via Yahoo's OMG!, Nadya Suleman has finally accepted the Angels in Waiting generous offer to help raise her 14 children. She told this to Dr. Phil in an episode that will air tomorrow and Wednesday.
Guess nothing better came up.
Wonder if these Dr. Phil programs are how she's gotten together enough money for a big down payment on the new house her father Ed Doud has purchased.
There was a sizable down payment made for that $594,000 new house his daughter is moving into this weekend, Us says.
Wait, isn't that how we got into this mortgage crisis?
Are banks still giving mortgages to people who are unemployed, on food stamps and on disability? Does her dad have a job? How is this possible?
OK, anyway, back to the Angels in Waiting business.
According to Us Magazine, Angels founder Linda Conforti West has said that her agency will provide around-the-clock services of skilled neonatal nurses who specialize in premature infant developmental care. The kids will also receive psychological and physical therapy. The services will start when the octuplets are released from the hospital, and will be re-evaluated every six months.
"The plan in place, which could not have happened without attorney Gloria Allred and Angels in Waiting, affords all of the Suleman children a chance to grow and thrive, " Dr. Phil says in a statement. "The childcare will be completely transparent, so that Kaiser Permanente and Child Protective Services will see that Nadya is seriously committed to her family."
Suleman turned down Angels in Waiting's first offer two weeks ago, the organization's attorney Allred said, because the organization wouldn't let her film a reality show in the provided housing.
Wait. You will love this part. Angels in Waiting estimates that it will cost $135,000 a month to care 24 hours a day for Suleman's eight babies -- born nine and a half weeks premature in January.
Let me say that again: $135,000 a month.
Do you think this is complete nonsense? Wonder what Nadya will be doing with her free time? Maybe writing that child-care book?

The money is going directly into childcare for the kids, she can't touch a penny, so why begrudge them that? They did not ask to be born into this mess.
Let's see how long it will take Nadya to muck this one up. Too bad Bush is out of office, they have the same success rate in common.
Having squads of nurses that she can't control observing her must be Nadya's worst nightmare.
And the public is already really tired of her, no sponsor will get entangled with anyone so unstably toxic for any sort of show, so her only way to get more money will be for her parents to sue the fertility doctor-gala1

This house is NOT NEW - build in 78.
Why hasn't child services stepped in yet? Where are they when you need them? They raid and breakup hundreds of innocent families to get one psycho in a religious community based on a bogus phone call tip but they won't lift a finger against this piece of garbage?!?!? I guess in the American SSR child abuse by agnostics is ok.
Are you crazy or just fueling the mob frenzy that is currently scapegoating Nadya? Of course it's an extraordinary amount of money and an extreme situation, but it's certainly not nonsense if these fragile children NEED it! Would you rather they not get it? Should Nadya provide their intensive neo-natal care herself? That is what you seem to be saying when deriding her in how she spends her free time.
she should be ashame!!!
She should not be aloud to keep these children! They should be put up for adoption1
I am deeply concerned for the health of these babies. Is Nadya S. competent to care for these kids? If she has psychiatric issues these children are also at risk to develop further emotional disorders. I say this with my mother having been bipolar, my sister schizophrenic. Incidentally my sister has always had imaginary children...but what kind of denial are we talking about?who does this to one child let alone 14? I send them love and blessings. And so should we all.
Both situations--sending home the babies to be raised by a penniless nutbar or having experts constantly on hand--seem unsatisfactory. Obviously, Nadya's on Mars in her own little fantasy about raising 14 children.
But long-term child care for the children seems a great deal too much like what happened to the Dionne quintuplets, many years ago, and they were permanently scarred by the situation. They were raised, effectively, by doctors and nurses, in a house separate from their older brothers and sisters; the parents were simply overwhelmed, and accepting the childcare offer seemed to be their only option. But in very real ways, accepting the child care left them without even one parent who was consistently there throughout their childhood; the parents, in their case, had to accept whatever the experts decided was best for the children. They formed strong bond with each other, but not with their parents or their caregivers, and after a childhood of effectively being raised by a committee of childcare workers, they had a great deal of difficulty adjusting to adult life. (The Dionnes lived in the equivalent to a reality show; they were a tourist attraction, and people paid to observe them without the children being aware that they were seen.) They didn't turn out to be mentally healthy, independent individuals capable of living comfortably outside of their bubble.
The Dionnes were raised from birth to near-adulthood by these experts, so they at least had the guarantee of shelter, food and health. How long is Angels planning to supervise the children? What will become of them if Angels feels that they are overstretched, and/or if donations simply don't materialize? Other parents of multiples will say loud and clear that donations don't continue after the first year or two. Then what? Eight two year olds and their 6 siblings are left with crazy Nadya? It's a terrifying prospect. Being separated from each other and adopted at that age would be difficult for the children, too, especially if any of them are special needs.
I hope that the social workers at Kaiser will read about the Dionne quintuplets before agreeing to release these poor babies to Nadya, with or without the support of Angels. Is being raised like battery chickens the ideal circumstance for children? And can Angels offer proof that they will be able to continue helping to raise the children until they don't need adult supervision (which would be till they are 18, presumably)? At the rate quoted in the article, it will cost 1,620,000 dollars a year to raise the children; times that by 18--the number of years they'll need support--and you've got some 29 million dollars required. Is there any likelihood whatsoever that any private agency would be able to find enough donors for that, year after year? It's hard to imagine. If the octuplets, at the very least, were adopted individually or in pairs upon release from the hospital, they would be able to form strong bonds with parents who would love and support them. Private and public agencies would not have to find the money to support all 14 of Nadya Suleman's misbegotten children. It's a better solution than Nadya alone or Nadya plus the Angels.
Great! Glad to hear about this assistance. For others, please stop hating on this woman and her children. Sure, she is a little out there in her judgement, but why oppose and continue to wish her ill will and no support. It doesn't help the situation by continuing to tear her down and hope for the worst for her. I wonder if any of you, including the media hounds, consider yourselves to be real Christians. If so, how can you continue to say and wish hateful things for this person and want her to fail in any attempts she makes to raise her children. Many people make very wrong decisions in their lives, but why hound them to death and wish negative outcomes. It appears the Devil is alive and doing well. I wish Ms. Suleman much luck and good fortune and praise anyone out their willing to help and assist her in any way.
I know this octo-mom is a very shrewd and conniving piece of work. How very interesting that Gloria Allred has once again stepped into the spotlight and demanded rights for Suleman. I am for taking the babies away from this woman and put them up for adoption. She is so incapable of taking care of her six other children. Also her freaking out about her child missing was a bit too Hollywood for me. I would freak if my child was gone, but her chanting the mantra of wanting to kill herself if front of a child doesn't allude a lot of confidence in her taking care of 14
innocent kids. What nerve of this...idiot to now ask for help. Is she done? Oh no wait there are diapers and food and toys and education and health concerns...I have headache now.... I would go after the dr. that did this stupid thing and have him pay for the mess, and then take his license away.
