Ryan Seacrest praises Hugh Jackman's hosting. Really?
Ryan Seacrest talked to The Dish Rag as he arrived late at Elton John's post-Oscar bash. He talks about Penelope Cruz, Sean Penn, Hugh Jackman's hosting skills, Oscar fashion and giving Simon Cowell a ride home.
What was the highlight for you tonight?
RS: "I was very happy to see Penelope Cruz win for 'Vicky Cristina Barcelona.' I liked that movie a lot. I thought Sean Penn definitely deserved to win for the movie 'Milk.' But I think a lot of people thought Mickey Rourke was going to take that award. Oh, and I really liked the way they gave away the lead actor and lead actress awards tonight."
You saw all the stars on the red carpet -- who was the best dressed?
RS: "You know, I actually -- from the people I spoke to, I don't think anyone made a fashion mistake. I mean, I'm not a fashion guru, but I don't think anyone made a tragic mistake on the red carpet."
Did you get the chance to see Hugh Jackman host?
RS: "I did see Hugh. He was the perfect choice -- so likable, so charming -- great when he did the opening number. Very funny, and extremely poised and relaxed. I always try to see if you can see the nerves on someone when they're on live TV, but you couldn't tell at all if he was nervous."
Now, this must be past your bedtime. What brings you to Elton John's party tonight?
RS: "Simon Cowell kept texting me, saying, 'I need you here. I need you here. We miss you.' And so Randy [Jackson] and I decided to come save him and drive him home."
Uh-oh. Was Simon tippling too much?

Where were the clips of the films I've grown to count on? The clips, that show me bits of the movies I have not been fortunate enough to see. Where were the quips and jokes between the stars? This is an off the cuff bit of enjoyment that seemed to be lacking last night. Where were the production numbers? The dancing and singing related to the films . Where was the enjoyment? It definitely was not in the show I was watching, and by the way, if I had been made to see Meryl Strep look coy for another ten minutes at a time, I may have had to shoot myself.
Yes really. Jackman did a fine job. I thought Jackman did great. The guy just has an energy that rubs off on everyone. You could see that everyone there was entertained by him. His act was not only refreshing but his attitude lit up the night. What the Oscars is all about is a celebration about films and he made it feel more like that then any host since Billy Crystal. You could tell just how happy and honored he was to be there. He was a great host I think. It would be great to have him back again.
She-crest: "I'm not a fashion guru" yeah rightttt! you pseudo metro(synonym for ****) sexual! bwahahaha!
Hugh Jackman's performance was fantastic, so much more interesting than the usual slow moving, boring and tedious presentations. This was the first Oscars I have watched for a long time because it was not terminally dull!
Jackman's performance was excellent. What have you done Snead?
