Michael Phelps' had to tell Mom about that bong toke
Winning eight Olympic gold medals?
Piece of cake.
Telling your mother about smoking pot?
You don't even wanna know.
Michael Phelps says it "definitely wasn't easy" 'splaining those candid photos of him toking on a bong pipe at a college party to his mother, who just happens to be a middle-school principal.
"Seeing my mom reminded me of how it was the day after I got my DUI, and I swore to myself I'd never do that again," Phelps told the Baltimore Sun, as reported by US Weekly. Phelps was arrested at age 19 for a DUI back in 2004.
First, a DUI, now pot? Dude, you're on the road heading straight to Whup Your You-Know-What Silly.
"We've been talking a lot," says Phelps. Oh, we'll just bet you have!
Of the pot smoking, he says "It's something I am going to have to live with, and something I'll have to grow from. This was stupid, and I know this won't happen again."
Does he mean he won't smoke pot again? Or that he won't get photographed smoking pot in public again? What do you think?
Either way, this may not be the end of the problems caused by the Olympic champ's error in judgment.
Columbia, S.C.'s State newspaper reports that Michael Phelps could face criminal charges there.
Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott told the paper that he would charge Phelps if he could prove the U.S. Olympian smoked marijuana in his county.
Do you think that's necessary? Or is going overboard? What about the other kids at the party? Are they all gonna get charged?

He is so frickin' grounded.
If you're going to charge Michael Phelps', you might as well charge the other kids that were in the same party as he was. You've got to be fair. Otherwise, drop the whole thing.
Every lawyer says this publicity hungry sheriff has no case. To even have a case, they have to prove it was marijuana in the bong. How are they gonna do that? Do you think the owner just stopped smoking out of it and will give it to the cops....umm no! The things sheriffs will do for press. (see joe Arpaio)
Why are we doing this??? oh thts right we believe being happy and hving fun and prsuing it through herbal vistas is a crime thats punishable by some form of suffering and financial penalty.
how many people really feel al the money we spend to prevent and punish this pleasure pursuit is worth it??
and tell me why the DEA gets to descide who gets to access MJ for research?? and it could be construde that they are "bigoted" in their coice of chosen research.
and why can't they show an annual death rate related directly to MJ use? just to show they realy stop an evil from interfering in our life, liberty, property??
Marijuana prohibition is equal to bigotry. dare anyone to believe otherwise.
so he smoked pot.....so what???? bush ruined the whole country aint no one flippin over that...give a guy a break....more than half of this country smokes pot on a daily basis aint botherin anyone...
In my view - drinking and driving was the far worse offense and is far more hazardous to ones health and the health of others than smoking pot. He kept his promise by not drinking and driving again. This time he got caught doing bong hits at a party - what harm is there in that? With respect to that, Michael is showing progress and he learned from his past mistake. I compliment you Michael Phelps! What you did demonstrates only that smoking a little weed and acheiving great success can indeed coexist. There are many examples of this! My only question is how pot got such a bad rap.
I think you should leave him alone but just hope a contracts and endorsements get canceled and he loses all the money.
Americans do know how to put a good man down. After all the accolades and the praise for winning the olympics and the honor he has achieved for this country, that is the best they could come out of that bong incident. There are more pressing issues people that f....g zeroing in on Michael. Leave him alone. Michale supporter forever...April80
"No speedos for a month Mister" exclaimed Mummy.
"But MOOOM". Cried Michael
"No buts!" Chuckled mother
What a double standard. He drinks and drives and endangers god knows how many people and it's A-OK. One bong hit(that endangered no one) and everyone comes unhinged. The US sure has some screwed up priorities.
