Chris Brown loses Wrigley deal, leaves L.A. on private jet
Last week, Olympic gold-winner swimmer Michael Phelps lost his Kellogg's endorsement and was suspended for three months from competition by USA Swimming after his public apology for smoking pot at a college party.
This week, it's Chris Brown who is learning there are repercussions to running afoul of the law.
Wrigley has now suspended all advertisements featuring Chris Brown, the R&B star who was arrested and charged with the alleged domestic assault of his girlfriend, singer Rihanna, early Sunday morning following Clive Davis' pre-Grammy party.
Wrigley also canceled the popular commercial that played during the Grammys, which was to have featured performances by Rihanna and Chris Brown.
A company spokesperson told Us Weekly:
"Wrigley is concerned by the serious allegations made against Chris Brown. We believe Mr. Brown should be afforded the same due process as any citizen. However, we have made the decision to suspend the current advertising featuring Brown and any related marketing communications until the matter is resolved."
Rihanna, who has bruises and a scratch on her face, has had to postpone a concert in Malaysia this week on her "Good Girl Gone Bad" tour.
Rihanna's reps alerted Malaysia's Pineapple Concerts that a Friday show would have to be rescheduled to an unspecified date "in light of recent events involving Rihanna," Pineapple Concerts told Associated Press.
Where are Rihanna and Chris Brown now? Us says Rihanna intends to go home to Barbados to be with family, and reports are that Brown boarded a private plane leaving L.A. on Monday. No word on where he went.
He has also pulled out of Saturday's NBA All-Star Weekend.
Brown is due in court March 5. Attorney Mark Geragos has been hired as his lawyer. This is the guy defended Winona Ryder for shoplifting and Michael Jackson for alleged child molestation.
Oh, brother.
What do you think? Is it about time celebrities behaving badly suffered consequences for their actions? Given that they usually seem to skate in the courts, Is losing money the only to teach them a lesson?

Yes,they should learn a lesson. This is going to far.
I know the lawyer will blame the victim and run her through the mud. They always do this in abuse cases.(if this is what happened).I say hit him in his pockets!
I believe chris is innocent
if he isnt i will forgive him
men and women re supposed to be equal but if he had "injured" a man their wouldnt be as much press speculation
CHRIS BROWN IS INNOCENT
I LOVE CHRIS BROWN
I do think that Chris should be held accountable for his actions and given the due process of the law like any other citizen. He should face the charges that any American citizen would face and have the opportunity to have his case heard in court with a jury of 7.
I am so disappointed in Chris Brown, my kids just love him and Rihanna. I just don't think he's a good role model any more. We have all his movies and CD's, but I guess this is where it ends. Chris, you NEVER put your hands on a woman... Guess you're going to learn the hard way..
Chris Brown needs his *** beat!
you know i feel that it is un-just to be able to pick which celeb is everyone should and shouldn't forgive and shouldn't. in one hand you have swimmer Michael Phelps who dose drugs (because pot is still a drug) and everyone says its not ok, but it was one incident and he learned his lesson. Now that Chris Brown dose something its he should not get a break.....thats some bull, everyone should be treated the same as the last person who committed that crime, no matter how many golds or Grammy's they have.
i think chris brown should go to jail for putting his hand on a woman.i knew it wasnt going to work out between them celebrities theese days they dont know who to date i would like to know why he hit rhiana i think she should do a interview and i hope she wins the case, chris brown you SUCK .
Rihanna, if Chris Brown beat or even hit you once, leave him and don't look back. Men who beat women rarely change. It becomes their habit. Next time could be worse.
there is a HUGE difference between what Michael Phelps did and what Chris Brown allegedly did. And no one ever mentions all the endorsements that Phelps kept in spite of his situation.
If allegations are true, he should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of his crime(s). No coward, celebrity or not should be shown leniency for abusive behavior. If what has been reported is true to any degree, hopefully the victim will be the strong individual she appears to be and move on from a pitiful excuse for a man.
