Jessica Simpson: from mom jeans to skorts?
Can Jessica Simpson possibly fall any farther from fashion favor? Is she trying to make style sniper Richard Blackwell turn over in his grave?
Simpson admitted on stage at Madison Square Garden this week that her pants have occasionally split on stage.
Not exactly a good thing to bring up when one's weight is under intense public scrutiny.
But apparently, she was just explaining why she was wearing a very loose mini-dress that was actually a form of culottes.
"I've had times when my pants split right down the middle when I bent down to reach a note," the singer told fans. "That's why I'm wearing a skort -- not a skirt, not a short -- just so they wouldn't split."
Oh dear. Open mouth, insert Jimmy Choos. Followed by several pairs of Spanx.
Simpson made her first live TV appearance since her much-scrutinized weight gain on Wednesday, performing "Pray Out Loud" on "The Early Show." And she deftly stepped around all those Miss Piggy comparisons.
"Honestly, I am right where I'm supposed to be. I am so happy," Simpson said. "Everything's really great."
OK, but if Jessica starts wearing figure-disguising Hillary Clinton pantsuits, we'll know there's something else going on.

i think everyone needs to leave her alone. why is weight such a huge deal in this country? it's disgusting. get a life and focus on what really matters. she is GORGEOUS either way.
People, get over her weight issue already, who cares. The most important issue is her mediocrity. She has a weak voice and no talent. Lets focus on that. By the way, she's not that gorgeouls. I have seen a hell of alot better looking girls in hollywood than that.
All her money comes from her looks. It's not her voice or her acting skills. It's always been about her looks. So she can't complalin now about that part of it. Whether they are saying she looks good or bad...it's always going to be about what she looks like. You can't make money from your looks, and then complain about it. She can cry into her thousand dollar bill. Any publicity is good, even negative attention keeps her in the headlines. Next week she'll wear parachute pants or maybe acid wash jeans!
Jessica, we Texas girls are built to withstand everything. We were raised in tornado alley and by God that didnt knock us down! Do not allow a few nay sayers to drag you to their level. Remember when people are jealous they insult and critize those they are jealous of. Stand up for yourself and be proud of who you are.
You people who write these articles are truly the most pathetic scum of society that I wouldn't even let touch the bottom of my shoe. If you read any legitimate news source (NOT the LA Times), it is quite obvious that Jessica was poking fun at the reports on her weight gain -- the pants splitting was not an actual story she was telling. And to reiterate, the people who write for the LA Times blog are the lowest scum of civilization.
i think that jess is still very pretty she just needs a little help choosing what she wears, but who am i to criticize everyone wears something that doesn't suit them regularly.
