Aretha Franklin sure looked -- and sounded -- a lot different at President Barack Obama's inaugural than she did at President Bill Clinton's in 1993.

Outdoors, on a v. cold day, 15 years later? Yes, Aretha, wear a hat! Head on, it looks v. nice with her ensemble. From the side, not so much, but as so few ladies wear hats these days one should hardly trust fashion blogs to know anything about them.
Aretha was wearing what is known as a "church hat" in the Black community . Certainly it was in keeping with her outfit. At least recognizable as a hat as opposed to the acorn we saw on Sarah Jessica Parker ot too long ago, that so many thought was cutting edge fashion and tres chic
How can you not just love Aretha? The fact is that she's so over the top in every way just makes her more endearing. And her talent is beyond fabulous. Good for her!
Well I liked the hat. It was very dignified and fit her (age) perfectly. She had somebody especially design it, you could tell that, it had diamonds embedded in it. Very classy.
