First Lady Michelle Obama's inaugural gown by Taiwan-born designer Jason Wu. Who?

Obama_whiteWho is Jason Wu, the designer of First Lady  Michelle Obama's stunning Grecian-style white gown?

He's a Taiwan-born, Manhattan-based young designer who got his start crafting couture creations for toy dolls.

No shock he's now dressing bigger dolls like Ivanka Trump, Lisa Cant, and supermodel Amber Valletta with his line started in 2006. He recently won the  Fashion Group International's Rising Star award.

His hourglass gowns mix old Hollywood glamour with youthful kicky ease, perfect for proms or, as it turns out, historic presidential inaugural balls.

It's not a shock that she chose him. She wore one of his Spring '09 creations for her interview with Barbara Walters.

What do you think of his inaugural gown? Is it the best Michelle has worn so far?

And how much did we love Beyonce's version of "At Last?"

What about you? Comments please!

I don't love it. I hate to say it, but I saw the dress and thought, "Really?"

Michelle's inaugural dress was beautiful...loved the green gloves as accents. Her daughters were dressed in darling little coats. But what happened with her gown??? It was horrible! It looks like pieced together white rags with pom poms all over it. The best part was that the white looked pretty against her skin and she matched the President. Beyonce gown outshined Michelle's.

Now that's a glamorous first lady stamping her personal seal on a refreshing new era.

I LOVE that she's a big supporter to small designers and minorities! Yo go OBAMA MAMA!

I think the dress looks very runway. Its a beautiful dress. I say she pulled it off quite nicely and easily. She looks stunning.

this is the best so far...i welcome her love for edgy designers but this AM's outfit and election night...not so much...this one...very much : )

Represent!!!

Jason u keep it real!

Gorgeous dress enhanced by Michelle's flawless skin! The dress was enchanting, soft and feminine. However, I was disappointed with the TV cameras' translation of her dark skin against white (a challenge for many photographers). The dress appeared underexposed, lacking detail. I had to see the still images to fully appreciate the dress's details, revealing the true creative genious of Jason Wu as well as Michelle's great figure. The next time Michelle wears white, I hope the photographers get their lighting right.

I like the idea that she would back a young designer- but on TV the dress made her look like the marshmellow monster in Ghost Busters. I know that she is thin, but the dress- when her back was turned- made her look about 4 inches wider- on each side- than her husband. The only good part was the one strap part.

A few months ago, CNN has shown sketches that various designers had submitted and i liked one that had one strap, was pulled in at the waist and had a short train off to the side. That would have been perfect.

This dress also looks like a big bag with powder puffs stuck all over it.

It is a good thing that she is attractive and she and her husband definitely looked totally in love on the dance floor- or it could have been the next sequel in Ghost Busters.

i don't know what i was expecting. i enjoyed her sunny yellow in the AM that brought a burst of warmth to a cold day. she looked good. she has a good stature.

For the evening, I was expecting something in color and definitely a one-shoulder strap. So when i saw a white dress, i was surprised. after going through picture upon picture, i think she looks beautiful and the dress grew on me. it is a pretty dress and looks great against her skin tone. it is a girly dress with mixture of glamour and refinement, not just a stuffy old gown. she's definitely breaking away from that trend. they looked adorable dancing together.

(but how the heck did beyonce get chosen to be there, i'll never know.) i thought the honor would go to someone else more dignified and classy.
