Is Dakota Fanning cast in 'Twilight' sequel 'New Moon'?
Dakota Fanning, 14, may have been offered the role of Jane, the Volturi vampire in the "Twilight" sequel, "New Moon," according ExtraTV.com.
The teenage actress is reportedly in talks to play the seductive young Italian vampire opposite Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson.
Eonline reports, "There were no auditions. They just offered it to her outright, and now they're in negotiations."
The casting news may totally thrill "Twilight" fans, who have been a bit dismayed at rumors of Vanessa Hudgens (can we can an 'ick?') jumping on the werewolf bandwagon.
One fervent "Twilight" fan even started an online petition calling for the studio to sign up Fanning as Jane.
So far, no official announcement, so this could all turn out to be wishful fan thinking. But we can always hope and pray!
"New Moon" is scheduled to begin filming in Italy this spring.
I could totally see Dakota as Jane. Forget "The Secret Life of Bees." She's great as the telekinetic, dread-locked clairvoyant chick in "Push."

Interesting casting. I think Fanning can pull it off without too much hype on her casting, to tear away from the ensemble feeling of the movie. Likewise, I agree that she looks bad-*** as the clairvoyant chick from Push. She can totally be Jane. Fast forward to Book 4 of the series, she'll grow into the role. Not enough to make it look obvious, but she's gonna' rock it.
Yep, I really love the idea of Dakota being the formidable character of Jane. She just has the right kind of look and just the evil type of girl to play her. I have my fingers crossed that she gets picked cuz she is perfect!! U GO DAKOTA!!!!
Vanessa Hudgeons would LOVE to be in on the Twilight buzz. She wants to be front and center I'm sure. Now that the dumbest movies ever (High School Musical??) aren't popular as much....she's looking for whatever will keep her in the spotlight. I say keep her out....keep it real. We don't want her singing to Troy in New Moon.
oh yeah definitely i think she would do a great job as jane.she may only be 14 but she looks older anyway and plus shes not supposed to age when she reappears in breaking dawn so yeah definitely.
NOOOO to Dakota Fanning. The great thing about the first movie was the great number of virtual new faces...this needs to fall into that category as well...I am sure as is the case with Vanessa Hudgens that they are both fine actors but the supports need to be new faces... the story is about Bella, Edward and Jacob.

I don't like the idea of Dakota Fanning playing Jane. I don't want to be thinking about Uptown Girls or War of the Worlds while I'm watching the Twilight movies. They need fresh new faces that wont take away from Edward and Bella.
