Heath Ledger gets a Globes nod for 'Dark Knight'

Heathledger Heath Ledger' s final film role as the deeply demented Joker in "The Dark Knight" has deservedly earned him a posthumous Golden Globe nomination.

And his dad Kim Ledger has made a statement about his son's honor: "We thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for honoring Heath's performance in The Dark Knight."

"This nomination is deeply appreciated and is not lost on those of us who continue to love and miss him. We are so proud our boy's work is being recognized in this way."

Ledger is in good company in the supporting actor category with Tom Cruise and Robert Downey Jr. for "Tropic Thunder," Ralph Fiennes for "The Duchess" and "Philip Seymour Hoffman" for his role "Doubt."

Still, it is kind of odd to have Ledger's perverse Joker, Cruise in a fat suit and Downey in black face up against the serious dramatic performances of Fiennes as the cold and powerful Duke of Devonshire and Hoffman as a priest accused of pedophilia.

But that's the Globes for ya.

They like to mix it up.

What do you think about the Globes nomination? He's already gotten one from the Los Angeles Film Critics too.

Should Heath also get an Oscar nod?

With e performance Heath Ledger gave in The Dark Knight, there should be no question about him winning. It would be a travesty to give the award to anyone else.
