Leonardo DiCaprio gives George Bush 'lower than F' on Ecology 101!
At a "Body of Lies" news conference in Rome on Wednesday, Leonardo DiCaprio admitted that he was a little short on sleep after staying up all Tuesday night watching the results of the U.S. presidential election.
"I couldn't be more proud of my country right now, proud to be an American," he said. "And I think the entire world was looking for a transition like this."
The longtime environmental activist hopes President-elect Barack Obama will have a stronger environmental agenda than the Bush administration.
"Predominantly, the Democrats have had a far superior environmental agenda than the Republicans," Leo said. "And you probably couldn't create a worse one than the last administration if you tried."
He gives the Bush administration 'lower than an F' grade for it's environmental policies.
Is Leo right?

I don't see how any person seriously concerned for the environment could possibly disagree with DiCaprio's assessment of the Bush administration.
One thing I'd like to see our new president do is fix the EPA; Bush has stocked it with cronies who clearly are not putting the planet in their top priorities.
I totally agree, you hardly ever heard of G. Bush doing anything for environment, it seems that war was always on the agenda but not the important stuff like climate change which ultimately affects everyone, not just Americans. It's sad though coz a lot of the environmental damage that has occurred is irrevocable.
I'm very surprised he didn't mention Obama's promise to entirely revamp our energy dependency situation by funding sources of green fuels. That, to me, is a MAJOR departure from other Democrats, and he's promised to make it his #1 priority above and beyond all else when he gets into the White House. So I think Obama's environmental policy should be more acknowledged than simply, "Well, Democrats in general are better than Republicans when it comes to the environment, and he couldn't be worse than the Bush bad-ministration if he tried". Give credit where credit is due!!
Policies of Bush's administration have damaged the environment of this planet at every imaginable level. This strong feeling of hope that people are sharing all over the world on this change in administration is a positive sign towards achieving a common goal of making this world a livable place.
I totally agree with what Leonardo Dicaprio said and i respect him for using his celebrity appeal for such a sensitive subject.
"W" did do one good thing.
He put this country in the crapper to the point where we all WOKE UP and realized we had to get off our butts and DO SOMETHING. Obama came at just the right time but... we still have a lot to do to make up for allowing 'W' to trash the country and our international reputation like he did for the last 8 yrs.
We're ready to get to work and we won't 'be asleep at the wheel' as citizens ever again.
The planetary ecological crisis is very serious. I was pleased Obama referred to a "planet in peril" during his victory speech.
1) He placed this above the financial crisis.
2) He referred to planet in a real sense. Rather than global or world like other politicians.
We decided to support him in Feb 2008.

Beautifully said Leo!
