Anne Hathaway's new dude: Dud or stud?

Anne Hathaway is so over her convicted embezzler beau Raffaello Follieri.

At the Oct. 20 London premiere of "Rachel Getting Married," she  talked about meeting someone new. "I happened to meet a sexy guy the other day. You know when you don't know someone very well ... you just meet them and you're like, 'Wow, you really have it going on'?" 

Who is this guy who knocked her socks off? Actor Adam Shulman, 27.

The new couple was recently spotted in New Orleans. And --  is it just us -- or does Anne look a little nerdy in those big black specs?

Adam accompanied Anne, 26, to a screening of her movie at the Canal Place Cinema.  Adam told Life & Style how they met through mutual friends. "I came to support Anne. We've never been to New Orleans before -- it's our first time."

Um, you just met, dude. Everything you do together when you first meet is for the first time.

Anyway, we digress. After the movie, they got dessert with pals at local hot spot Patois, where they sipped white wine and Anne picked off Adam's plate.

Turns out Anne almost didn't get her new man. "He was actually seeing someone else," she told the table while resting her hand on Adam's leg, a witness told L&S. "I thought I was going to have to step back."

If we were Anne, we'd do a background check this time. And if Adam says he can get you a private audience with the Pope, run for the hills.
