Amy Poehler MIA from SNL: busy having a baby!
Why did Seth Myers do the Weekend Update solo last night?
Because the "Baby Mama" star Amy Poehler was a little busy, thank you very much. She delivered a baby boy hours before she was to appear on the show.
On behalf of Poehler and her husband, Will Arnett, "I can confirm that Amy gave birth to Archie Arnett on Saturday," read a statement from Poehler's spokesman, Lewis Kay.
The baby was born early Saturday evening in New York, weighing 8 pounds, 1 ounce (3.6 kilograms).
Mother and child were "healthy and resting comfortably," according to the statement.
Poehler, who performed on Thursday night's special edition of SNL and is known for playing Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, and filled in for Gov. Sarah Palin during last week's show with the outrageous Palin rap song, was rehearsing the Saturday night show until Friday.
What a trooper!
We will miss you, Amy. The upcoming presidential election won't be the same without your impersonations.
