Madonna, Guy Ritchie really ARE getting divorced!

Remember all those rumors about Madonna and Guy Ritchie divorcing?

And all those outraged and adamant denials issued by their publicist?

Well, what do you know. Madonna and her film director husband really are getting divorced.

Madonna's UK spokeswoman, Moira Bellas, confirmed the split to CNN, and her U.S. rep, Liz Rosenberg, told the Associated Press the same thing.

The statement, co-signed by Ritchie's representative, says the couple had not yet agreed to a settlement.

Ritchie, 40, and Madonna got married seven years ago at a Scottish estate. But the high-profile couple has not been seen together very often in recent years. And after their extremely distant and strained appearances on the 2008 Cannes Film Festival's red carpet, the divorce rumors got louder.

According to The Sun, Madonna wanted to wait until the end of her Sticky & Sweet world tour before announcing the news. But the date has clearly been moved up.

How fast will it happen? Depends on the settlement.

Divorce lawyer Jeremy Abraham told CNN that a quickie would be impossible.

"By my calculations, the earliest it's likely they could be divorced is the middle of February next year," he said.

With Madonna's massive net worth, legal experts think there is probably an agreed-on civilized financial settlement already in place and that the couple will not repeat the Heather Mills-Paul McCartney fiasco.

After a very public financial fight, McCartney's ex-wife was awarded a settlement of almost $50 million in March of this year.
