John Cleese likens Sarah Palin to 'a nice-looking parrot'

British actor-comedian John Cleese, co-creator of Monty Python and one of the funniest men on Earth, talks about Gov. Sarah Palin and her readiness to be VP: She "is no way good enough," he says.

First, he cracks up when asked about her. Then he says, "What fascinates me is how people watching her on television -- can they not see that she's basically learned certain speeches and she does them very well, she's got a very good memory. But it's like a nice-looking parrot, because the parrot speaks beautifully and kind of says, 'Aw, shucks' every now and again, but doesn't really have any understanding of the meaning of the words that it is producing."

He thinks Monty Python could have written Palin's character and adds, "I'm sorry, Michael Palin, to say you are not the funniest Palin anymore."

Oh, c'mon, John. Tell us what you really think!

Do you agree with Cleese? No? Then stick up for Sarah!

It is plain to see that Mr. Cleese is sucking up to the Hollywood establishment so that he can keep his pathetic (such as it is) acting career on life support.

Of course John Cleese is right about Sarah Palin. Don't you remember Palin announced that she wasn't going to answer any questions at the debate? And she didn't--she just babbled on reciting her prepared speeches like a well-trained parrot regardless of the question. And that's why Palin is no longer allowed to participate in interviews with the media, who might ask an unexpected question and expect a coherent answer, which she is not prepared to do.

Palin want a cracker! Squawk! Squawk!

(No offense to real parrots of course.)

It is plain to see that Jim Milford is sucking up to the blognoscenti so that he can keep his pathetic (such as they are) writing skills on life support.

I've always liked John but, maybe he is a jealous, closet Gay? Dude, you're never gonna be as good looking as she is AND you'll never have her power. So, maybe he is a typical threatened male chauvinist pig-sans lipstick? Dude, once again, she kills her own lunch and is more of a man than most in the lower 48! Is it because she pulls in much larger numbers on an otherwise anemic SNL than you ever could? Again, you and Fey ought ta get together and realize that the only reason you are relevent at this moment in time, is because of her. How 'bout a sequel to "A Fish Called Wanda?" Call it, "I'm a threatened British ego-centric, Euro-elitist-intellectualistic pig (with lipstick) on a Republican spit because being too lame to fully examine the reasoning behind my bias I became enraptured with the perception of my own swayed logic and, therefore, became irrelevent by compare"

Never having meet John Cleese, and therefore knowing what little I do know about him from reading the news, his comments about Palin strike me as extraordinarily tactful and reserved.

i, like Mr. Cleese, (used to be Cheese) am English, yet live in Canada and what i objectively note is that the Republicans are not the first to float a sinker, but Palin, wow are you guy's REALY buying this? get your heads out of your holes Reps, Woman for Pres? shure, Palin no way.

Perhaps the puppet masters strings are showing, Palin/Mcain in the Oval office, be warned the whole World is watching! This is no time for 'one trick Palen's'

John Cleese is absolutely right-Sarah and Todd Palin are a joke. It would be funny if they weren't so scary..Please Sarah and Todd-go away now.

I, for one, am proud to have Republicans throw that slur at me. :)

In short, it boils down to this question:

Would you trust Palin as commander in chief of the USA?

She can't even keep her kids under control or her email safe!

John Cleese did time in a loony bin and it shows,he's just another lefty who can't stand americans of any description,by the way he is not an actor,he just plays himself.

and proud of it! get ready my liberal friends....you and Mr. Cheese will see what it really means to spread the wealth....It really means, we the middle class will be the only ones sharing the wealth with the lazy people who have never worked or will ever work or pay taxes....but guess what Obama and all his friends will continue to live like rich wealthy people...believe me they will not be spreading their wealth with you!!!! This type of mentality does not work. Wake up people...stop hating and start thinking about your future and the future of your children. American stands for freedom. Let's keep it that way!!!
