Sarah Palin's Naughty Monkey look and why Patagonia is not amused
Sarah Palin is officially a trend-setting celebrity in 20-something club-hopping party pumps. Why, it may not be long before she's featured in Elle Girl magazine!
According to the Wall Street Journal, fashion and beauty companies are already marketing the Palin look –- naughty red pumps, serious upswept hair, glam rimless glasses, French manicured fingers and toes.
And no one could be happier about Gov. Palin's trotting onstage at the RNC in a pair of edgy, hip, red peep-toe pumps (3 1/2" heels) - called Double Dare - than the manufacturer, Naughty Monkey. It should be noted that another celeb who wears this brand is named Paris Hilton.

Shoefly + Hudsons, the Juneau boutique where Gov. Palin bought her sexy Naughty Monkey heels, has the shoes prominently displayed on the website: "First Stop: Shoefly + Hudsons, Second Stop: Run for Vice President of the U.S.?"
At at least one swanky New York salon atop Bergdorf Goodman, women are lining up for the Palin 'do. "People are requesting it -- it shows off the cheekbones," hairdresser John Barrett told the WSJ.
And I wouldn't be surprised if we see some Palin updos at the Emmy Awards next week. Hey, there are a few gun-loving, endangered-wildlife-hunting actresses around. Aren't there?
And what about that famous lipstick? In the Daily Beauty Reporter blog post "Paging All Pit Bulls and Piggies," Allure.com suggests "pit-bull-friendly" and "pig appropriate" colors, referring to Gov. Palin's lipstick-wearing pit bull joke and Barack Obama's reference to Mr. McCain's economic policy as "lipstick on a pig."
But red shoes, pig and pit bull lipstick aside, what may endear Sarah to female voters is that, according to the WSJ, she shops (gasp!) second-hand.
Gov. Palin recently picked up an Escada tweed blazer at Out of the Closet, an Alaska second-hand shop, where she's a regular shopper. The WSJ says the store bragged on its website on Sept 1: "Finally, we are thrilled that our favorite Governor is making such a name for herself on the national stage! Go Girl! We love seeing you in your Out of the Closet duds!"
However, it should be noted that not every clothing company is aligning itself with Palin.
Gov. Palin has joked that her favorite designer is Patagonia. Much to their horror.
"Patagonia's environmental mission greatly differs from Sarah Palin's," Patagonia rep Jen Rapp told the WSJ. "Just wearing the clothing of an environmental company does not necessarily make someone an environmentalist."
Ouch.

Does anyone but me notice that her "glasses" are not corrective lenses? Could it be a dupe to make her look smarter???
i seem to recall when celebrity for Obama was a bad thing. how thing's change!!
don't forget the Palin dool is out now too!!!
This article, and whoever took the time to write it, is pathetic. Who cares what type of shoes she wears...it is the person who fills them that matters.
Sarah does indeed wear corrective lenses. Take a good look at her family pictures when she was 8 years old she wore coke-bottle glasses. She now wears high-index lenses in her frames. They are not a "prop" like the idiot Joy Behar claimed.
Wow! Is there nothing the press won't pick on. Does anyone stop to say "they are just shoes"? Mothers are always criticized for being defined by their children, but if they take one step toward independence or individuality they are compared to the likes of Paris Hilton. Perhaps if a Palin sex tapes hits internet porn sites I would understand criticism, but leave her fabulous shoes alone!
In the meantime, I would really like it if reporters and journalists actually reported something worthy of being called news - not slap-shots at established individuals who are putting themselves out there for the sake of the 'people'.
Way to go Mrs. Palin for stepping up in style!
In response to the berating comments posted - How can one tell from a photograph whether or not someone's glasses are prescription?

Liberal feminists are just jealous and need to realize that strong, accomplished women don't have to look like Janet Reno to be taken seriously.
The fact that she has great style does not diminish the fact that she has held executive positions in government, and has one of the highest ratings of any governor in the US. In fact, I think it is refreshing.
