Hollywood to Sarah Palin: These stars say, 'Thanks, but no thanks'
"At first I thought Sarah Palin was some kind of Republican pandering -- a misguided attempt to woo Hillary voters over to the dark side, as if they believed women voters were so stupid that they would vote for anyone in a skirt, but now I see that she is much, much worse. I have nothing against hockey moms -- I just don't want to be one. If Sarah Palin had her way, she would take away that right not to be a mom. She wants to outlaw abortion -- so to call her a feminist is as laughable as calling evangelicals 'Christians.' They shouldn't have the right to call themselves Christian, for they have no Christ-like attributes."
-- Margaret Cho, on her blog
"It's amazing that a woman has come that far. But from what I know about her, her policies are not things I agree with."
-- Meg Ryan, during a press junket for "The Women"

Seems like half of Hollywood is speaking out about Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, Sen. John McCain's VP choice.
Matt Damon, Annette Bening, Barbra Streisand, Lindsay Lohan, Eva Longoria Parker, Pink ... check out this gallery of stars and what they had to say about Palin.
Do you care what they think? Do you agree with any of them? Or do you wish they would all shut-the-heck-up?

I don't care one iota what any actor/actress says or thinks about any politician, Republican or Democrat.
Why do actors think they are qualified to pundit on politicians? Spending one's life playing make believe while living in a bubble of money and glamour should mean that your opinion means LESS, not more!
I do care. I am so tired of the constant flow of left wing garbage out of Hollywood that I will not spend a dime to see these performers' movies, buy their cd's or even watch them on tv. I have had enough.
if you are going to report this story you really need to report it accurately. The vile, disgusting language margaret cho used in her original remark was at the very least an embarrassment to every woman. This vile woman has no right to talk about another woman the way she did Sarah Palin. Hollywood you are on notice...keep it up and you will find that no one will pay to see the garbage movies you make. you are nothing but uneducated, drug/sex addicts, and really have no significance to America.
Are there any smart people in Hollywood? For or against Sarah, none of these comments said anything about American society. Just a bunch of anti-Sarah diatribe culled from the evening news shows. Do any of these people have an original thought? bb
Sarah Palin's experience:
Sarah Palin on Economics:
Sarah is the Governor of the State of Alaska, a U.S. State with the population of approximately 700,000 people. Under Sarah's leadership, this year, each Alaskan will receive an Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend (from Alaska's oil wealth) of approximately $2000. On top of that, because of the high gas prices, each Alaskan will receive an energy rebate of $1200. She knows what needs to be done to balance energy resources and a budget. She has an 80% approval rating as Governor of Alaska, so the citizens are on her side and she is on their side.
In 1973, Joe Biden voted against the construction of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS). The Trans-Alaska Pipeline System was constructed, and since then, the pipeline has supplied 15 billion barrels of oil to the U.S.
Sarah Palin on Foreign Relations:
Here are photos of Sarah Palin visiting her Alaska National Guard troops in the Middle East:
http://asecondhandconjecture.com/index.php/2008/08/30/sarah-palin-kuwait-gallery/
Her troops get sent to Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan, and Kosovo, and she gets briefed constantly on their mission, well being, and what is going on in that region that could affect her troops.
With Canada, she has to deal with immigration/customs crack down at the border.
Her troops train Mongolian troops every year.
Alaska is home to 2 major U.S. Air Force bases: Eielson Air Force Base in Fairbanks, and Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage. Russia is a few miles from Alaska's coast. U.S. Air Force planes intercept Russian planes all of the time.
Alaska has an enormous coast line and foreign boats cruise around the waters all of the time, which can turn into an international situation. If an emergency arises, she has to know what is going on not only in her state but around it.
The Missile Defense system that her troops run protects the U.S. from a nuclear attack.
As the Governor of Alaska and the Alaska National Guard Commander and Chief, she is ultimately responsible for anti-terrorism measures in Alaska. When they found pics of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System in a cave in Afghanistan, they sent Alaska Army Guard troops to guard it and train in anti-terrorism measures. A man was recently sentenced to 13 years in prison for plotting to blow up the pipeline.
She sent a C-17 plane with Alaska National Guard troops to help with the Hurricane Gustav response effort, which included troops available for search-and-rescue missions.
To summarize, Sarah Palin has years of executive experience in economics, the oil industry within the U.S., and U.S. National Defense. She knows first hand about teamwork, and is ready to lead our country.
George Washington: "We take the stars from Heaven, the red from our mother country, separating it by white stripes, thus showing that we have separated from her, and the white stripes shall go down to posterity representing Liberty."
Obama: "I won't wear that pin on my chest".
wow really how cares what Hollywood things or feels all they know how to bad mouth anyone they dont like!
Sam -
Are you kidding, dude?
Gee, I've seen television shows about foreign countries - guess that means I'm ready to lead the country!
She is a ridiculous choice for VP - or ANY office requiring any REAL abilities to govern - she is an embarrassment to female politicians everywhere, and I honestly cannot believe there are actually people in this country who truly think McCain and she are a "good choice". Have you (and the rest of the conservatives so "concerned" with the direction of this country) read anything at all about things she's done that AREN'T glossed over with shiny, pretty words? She is under investigation for misusing the position she has only held for 18 months - she lied about supporting (or not supporting) that silly bridge project - she doesn't have any clue whatsoever what a VP does, what her party's leader's philosophies are, and she "doesn't pay that much attention to Iraq" - plus her own family can't seem to live up to the morals that she feels should be adhered to by others, yet not in her own home. Yeah, you can have her.
I'm honestly beginning to wonder if there are any smart people voting GOP.
lissafaith,
In my eyes, the TRUTH about that investigation is this: the former commissioner of the department of public safety in Alaska said this on record: "For the record, no one ever said 'fire Wooten'. Not the governor. Not Todd. Not any of the other staff". She disagreed with the commissioner on certain issues, so she decided to replace him - totally legal and within her jurisdiction as governor.
She continues to maintain a high approval rating with the CITIZENS – and has throughout her careers as mayor and governor - which shows that she's made the right decisions in the eyes of the people. Don't believe everything you read in the tabloids and "negative" press. She has never said that people should live up to her and her family's morals. In her interview with Sean Hannity, she set the record straight about a lot of the issues that were brought up in the media, such as: she believes evolution SHOULD be taught in schools, as her father is/was a school teacher. Homosexuality: She said that she's not one to judge. Bridge To Nowhere: originally for it, as they needed a form of transportation for that area, but the budget for it grew enormously, so she decided against it, opting for something more economical for that area. Banning books: Never, ever did that.
Abraham Lincoln had 18 months of schooling (formal education), was largely self-taught, well respected, and a great president. I appreciate the fact that she quotes him and the Declaration Of Independence – makes me feel more comfortable about her, aside from her many accomplishments through her years of service as mayor and governor.
If you feel like it, look up that Sean Hannity interview on Youtube or wherever, so you can hear her side. Just my opinions. Thanks for listenin', and PEACE!
Sarah Palin is a disgrace. PERIOD. The woman is running with an angry little old man, who believes woman should NOT be paid equal to men and AGAIN the woman's right to choose is in hanging in the balance. Its ridiculous. PLEASE MAKE HER GO AWAY.
