Scarlett Johansson calls media 'sexist' for reports on her Barack Obama e-mails. We are so ashamed...

W_7141

Scarlett Johansson
accuses the media of making a big fat sexist deal over her e-mail exchanges with Barack Obama.

"It seemed to me to be like a product of extreme sexism," Johansson told the Associated Press, "and I kept thinking to myself, 'God, if this was just, like, Kal Penn or George Clooney or any of the other [Obama] surrogates or supporters ... there wouldn't be [any] question about it. Nobody would even talk about it."

Well, to be honest, the idea of e-mails to and from George and Barack doesn't feel nearly as titillating as electronic correspondence between Scarlett and Barack. So maybe she's right.

We are sexist. And we are so so ashamed.

After the news about the e-mails broke, Obama explained that Johansson didn't write to his personal e-mail address. Instead, his assistant forwarded him a message from her, and Obama replied.

W_7119aScarlett says: "I was merely trying to express my delight at Obama's commitment to his campaign in every aspect and his interest and his support [in] his surrogates and his staff and his fellows, and how wonderful and refreshing that is. And it was manipulated into such an unfortunate media frenzy of kind of a non-story."

While interviewing Scarlett on Sunday about her role in "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" - a film in which her character has a hot threesome with Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem -  I confess I was only vaguely interested in the Spain locations and working with Woody Allen in three movies.

I just couldn't wait to ask her the really important question: So, who's the better kisser? Penelope or Javier?

"Javier was definitely hairier," Scarlett confessed before going on and on about how kissing on screen isn't sexy at all, blah, blah - and I totally stopped listening at that point.

She has a threesome with two of the hottest actors in the world, people! Two actors who, I might add, are rumored to be dating and left the film's post-party at Whiskey Blue at W L.A. together, according to witnesses.

Who doesn't want to know about this? So I'm sexist. So sue me.

Video of this interview will be on the site tomorrow, and I'm sure all you non-sexists won't want to check it out.

As reluctant as I am to say something bad about Scarlett, I don't think she understands the meaning of sexism. Titillation over an imagined, possibly naughty relationship between her and Obama may be immature and gossipy, but it's not sexist. But enough about that. You should ask Javier Bardem how HE felt about the 3some.

Hello dear ladies and gentlemen!

I would like inform you that Scarlett Johansson (actress) actually is a clone from original person, who has nothing with acting career. That clone was created illegally by using stolen biological material. Original person is very nice (not d**n sexy), most important - CHRISTIAN young lady!

I'll tell you guys more, those clones (it's not only one) made in GERMANY - world leader manufacturer of humans clones, it is in Ludwigshafen am Rhein, North Bavaria, Mr. Helmut Kohl home town. You can not even imaging the scale of the cloning activity. But warning! Helmut Kohl clone staff 100% controlling all their clones spreading around the world, they are very accurate with that, some of them are still NAZI type disciplined and mind controlled clones, so be careful get close with clones you will be controlled as well. Original Scarlett is not engage, by the way!

Dear Ms. Snead,

I am writing to express my rare disagreement with one of your statements, that is, personally I would find a secret correspondence between Senator Obama and Mr. Clooney much more titillating than one with Ms. Johansson. Wouldn't you rather receive an email from Mr. Clooney?

I am amused, however, by Ms. Johansson's rather naive claim that her mash note to the Senator, and his rather impolitic personal reply, should not be treated as news-worthy. Next thing you know, Senator McCain's TV ads will be inferring they are lovers (poor jealous Senator McCain!).

TomK

Scarlett loved the publicity on this Obama thing and really wishes that it hadn't come out that she and Obama didn't actually have a "cyber" relationship. His aide got her email, wow, I'm so impressed.

Scarlett Johansson was one of the first celebrities to support Obama. She will be remembered for that.

Have to agree with her. The blogs including this one and the tabloids realy make women look stupid. They have done so much to harm women in recent years. For example who could ever believe that a woman could actually have something to say that a future president hopeful could ever be interested in if she didn't offer herself? And women are really worth nothing if they can't "keep" a man or have babies. What are women really good for according to this blog except looking stupid, having babies, and offering their bodies. Sad thing is the teenagers read this stuff and now believe that you are celebrated if you have children and do not marry, you are so much better if you have babies, and as you get older you are made fun of. WOW Elizabeth good for you. YOu really do a lot for women don't you.

I find it interesting that Elizabeth Snead is so glib about being a sexist. "So I'm sexist. So sue me."

Perhaps it's because she's woman that she feels comfortable with the label - like blacks who feel comfortable using the "N" word, only because they're black.

That said, I wonder if she would be so dismissive of the notion if someone accused her of being racist, anti-semitic, or just an all around bigot? Somehow, I doubt it.

But, then again, if a male boss treated her in a sexist manner that seriously impacted her career, I'm sure Elizabeth's attitude wouldn't be so glib.

To TrackBack, you apparently don't understand the meaning of sexism. If a male actor writes a simple inspirational email and nothing happens, then a female writes the same email and receives comments about a sexual relationship, that is a difference in reaction based on gender alone. That is sexism.
