Christina Aguilera could survive being hit by lightning

Nose rings used to be considered tres cutting edge. Especially for pop stars styled after punks and primitives like Pink, Lenny Kravitz, Christina Aguilera, Mary J. Blige and Eve, who all once wore -- or still wear -- schnoz jewelry.

Even Scarlett Johansson used to wear a small gold ring in her sniffer.

They've kinda become a cliche in the last few years. But pierced noses may make a comeback when people find out how snout bling could save their lives.

Case in point: Jessica Lafreniere, 21, was hit by a bolt of lightning on Wednesday, July 9. It knocked her flat and turned her blue. Then the electricity exited her body through her small metal nose ring. And she's fine. Seriously. She even went to work later that day.

She and her mom, Danielle Taylor, had been filling up water balloons outside their home in Antrim, N.H., when a storm rolled in. They went inside, but during a break in the storm, Jessica stepped from her garage to shut off the hose. That's when lightning struck.

"The flash came from her feet, her face lit up and the next thing I knew Jessica was in my arms.... I turned her over and she was stiff as a board," Danielle Taylor told WBZ TV. It was like "literally picking up a board and moving it that landed on top of you -- that's what she felt like."

Doctors told Jessica afterward that the electricity had traveled out through her metal nose decor.
