Miley Cyrus on 'artsy' topless pix and paparazzi pals? Uh-oh!

Miley_cyrus___billy_ray_cyrus

Vanity Fair's May issue, which hits the stands this week featuring a photo of Miley Ray Cyrus topless, looking rumpled and wrapped in a bed sheet, is sure to sell out quickly. The children buying the issue may not read it cover to cover, but they will study the pictures.

And they will certainly read the Miley quotes that come free with the controversial Annie Leibovitz photo. What the 15-year-old G-rated goddess said to Vanity Fair about the suggestive bed-head photo is quite a different response to the pix than the one she released Sunday.

On the infamous semi-topless shot: "No, I mean I had a big blanket on. And I thought, This looks pretty, and really natural. I think it's really artsy. [And] it wasn't in a skanky way.... And you can't say no to [Leibovitz]. She's so cute. She gets this puppy-dog look and you're like, OK."

On being pals with paparazzi who follow her everywhere and camp outside her house, Miley says she's largely compliant if not downright courting the attention. "Sometimes there'll be like 40. Sometimes 20, sometimes 30. Sometimes two. I'll stop and I'll do the picture. It's really funny. They'll buy our dinner and whatever. We've become friends."

Is it just me, or is the fact that Miley is palling around with the paparazzi slightly disturbing?

Isn't that exactly what happened to Britney Spears?

To Miley Cyrus,

Even though you are only 15, you know better than that. If your dad is

so great he would not have let this happen. It 's really his fault because you are still a child. What's next

your underwears.

I've always liked Miley as she came across like a normal 15 year old. I thought her parents had a good handle on her career and how she was protrayed in the press. What could ANY of them have been thinking by allowing her to be photographed topless regardless of whether the public could "see anything". There is no good way to have any girl pose topless and not have the pics look racy. This is not Annie L's fault; the parents should have put their foot down.

please don't get me wrong here i'm all for kids not having to grow up to fast.... but the idea that reality as shown by a human bac...k by someone who is ... an artist...used to expressing themselves and to a certain point objectifying themselves. people do grow up in the real world and as they grow up they will be hopefully making more and more of thier own choices. i'm a little concerned about the photographer being portrayed maybe as circumspect i dont know any artist that would intentionally want one of thier subjects to feel uncomfortable most photographers spend a lot of time to make sure the person is comfortable so they can portray them as themselves.. something hard to do when you are cognisent of the attention. if she and her parents wanted to show it or not show it the reality is humans have backs and bodies and forms . i have have always felt that people always see just what they wantto see the way they want to see it anyway i personoly useually do my paintings with several points of view to see which the viewer sees first. so i would be more worried about the people who see filth in human form if i am created in Gods image... what part of my body should i be ashamed of..... of coarse i'm an artist an i suscribe to the idea of everybody making thier own choices

Was Miley Cyrus not at the photo shoot when she was asked to pose topless? Artsy or not, when you're 15 and got a Disney career, she should have known what she was doing when asked to pose (semi) nude. Now, she's embarassed? Also, where were her parents or her managers/handlers at this photo shoot? She seemed pretty racy in her internet photos where she was exposing her undewear. Why act all innocent and shocked and embarassed?

Where was your mother!?!? And I thought the low cut dress you wore on the CMA's when you sang the duet with your father was inappropriate. For heavens sake, BE 15!

Most parents of teenage girls won't even allow them to date at 15. She is a child. Her parents should be blamed. At 15, most girls have no figures to flaunt anyway. Did parents buy that too?

Much ado about absolutely nothing.

We're seeing a bare back! Better shut down all those beaches this summer. A year from now, with her parents authorization, she'll be old enough to join the Army and get her head blown off in Iraq. Now that's immoral.

Pepole just need to stop and leave it alone kids make mistakes.

To all the idiots that think she is still a kid... Wake up... A 16 year old woman is not a kid. Western society is the only culture in the world that even acknowledges teenagers, to 95% of the planet you're either a child or an adult, usually by the time you're 13. Why do you think "teenagers" rebel so vehemently when they're still treated like kids? Maybe it's because they're adults looking for an opportunity to be treated with trust and respect. No wonder your children treat you with contempt. It's how you all treat them. You're all idiots living inside your church walls. You think God is impressed with how you oppress your kids? He treats people as adults at 13 (Bar/Bat Mitzvah), try treating your children with respect & do the same.
