Why is Lindsay Lohan going to the Capri Film Festival?

Because she's receiving some kind of Global Film Award. Clearly not for "I Know Who Killed Me."

And Freddie Highmore and Hayden Panettiere (has she even made a good film yet?) will be getting Breakout Awards.

Also attending, to pick up well-deserved Legend Awards: John Malkovich and Dennis Hopper.

Why else is Lilo heading to the lovely island off the romantic Amalfi coast of Italy?

Well, besides the award, this festival is a great excuse to get out of Dodge's bars and clubs during the Holiday Danger Zone, Dec. 27-Jan. 2.

But there's another reason.  "She wants to experience more things culturally," a rep for the awards told me. More news as it develops!
